Should be an interesting meeting! :) (n/t) (24-Jun-1999 15:08:53) -- Mark Longmuir - longmuir@labyrinth.net.au Homepage: http://www.labyrinth.net.au/~longmuir/ Whose Line is it Anyway? - http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8451 "Stop tap dancing, you fool!" --------------------------------------------------------------------- [Image] [Image] Whose Board is it, Anyway? Sorta OT, But it's about Paul Merton and the Queen Thursday, 24-Jun-1999 15:07:00 24.226.74.228 writes: Hey!! Here is the article from Yahoo UK! It's really cool! :o) Royal Date For TV Satirist The Queen Mother is to meet off-beat comedian Paul Merton in an unusual encounter between the worlds of royalty and alternative humour. The 98-year-old Royal matriarch will be introduced to the Have I Got News For You television star at a Citizens Advice Bureau in south London. Merton is patron of the CAB. Ironically, before the Queen Mother's meeting with Merton at the Mitcham CAB, she will visit the nearby suburb of Merton, from which the comic - real name Paul Martin - took his stage name. Mitcham CAB, which started life operating from a horse box, was one of the first in the country. Both the CAB service and the Mitcham bureau are celebrating their 60th anniversary. The Queen Mother has visited the Mitcham CAB on two previous occasions in 1956 and 1989 and was due to view an electronic information system and cut an anniversary cake. In Merton, she will open the new £1.3m state-of-the-art Blue Cross Animal Hospital. The hospital is the fourth of its kind in the country and will provide free veterinary treatment to animals whose owners are on low incomes. It was built with cash donated by more than 1,000 supporters of the Blue Cross. Facilities at the hospital include a hi-tech operating theatre, ophthalmology and electro-cardiogram (ECG) clinics and an X-ray room, and it is expected that 20,000 animals will be treated there each year.
