New DL episode *SPOILERS* Wednesday, 22-Sep-1999 22:30:02 205.200.28.46 writes: Well, seems that last week wasn't a freak accident -- I do in fact get Whose Line one day earlier than the rest of North America. I knew living in Winnipeg would pay off eventually. =) Here's what I was able to write down. I can't promise accuracy (in transcribing OR spelling!). Intros Brad- Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs Wayne- Stays crunchy even in milk Colin- Magically delicious Ryan- 2 scoops of raisins in his pants Weird Newscasters Brad- anchor "Clive Strudlepants" Colin- co-anchor - '20s gangster under fire in a getaway car Wayne- sports (Brad intros him as "Hardwood Panelling", making Wayne break up) - In love with the cameraman. Ryan- weather - Trying to keep a leaking dam from breaking. Drew gives "1000 union points to Larry the cameraman" for keeping up with Wayne, and continues with a few good union jokes. Duet Brad & Wayne singing to Michelle, the writer/mom in the style of the Gypsy Kings. Only uneventful game of the night, imo. Newsflash Ryan & Brad anchors, Colin in the field underwater with sharks. One of those times where Col's movements matched perfectly with what was going on in the background. Very funny! Party Quirks Brad - host Wayne - on a tape being rewound and fast forwarded Colin - cruise ship steward in bad weather (this one went nowhere... poor Colin) Ryan - hyperactive lap dog looking for a lap (goes over to Drew and starts lapping up water... er, *Pepsi* for those of you who went to tapings... from his mug. He finally settles on a lap of an audience member, and when he goes back Brad makes like Ryan had crapped on the rug and tries to push his nose into it. Ryan then bits Brad on the ankle.) Scenes From A Hat (can't write that fast, sorry!) Rejected theme songs from the movie Titanic -Brad -Colin (did a little show-tune thing, very funny!) Losing science fair projects -Brad -Ryan Celebrity endorsements doomed to fail -Brad (as Joan Crawford for anti-aging) -Wayne (Mike Tyson for Encyclopedia Britannica) -Ryan (Christopher Lloyd... didn't really make sense the first time, sorry I can't elaborate) -Colin ("This is Colin Mochrie for Rogaine"... BEST line of the night) Drill Sgt. pick-up lines -Wayne to Colin "Ever held a rifle?" -Brad to all "I just want to stand here and look at my privates" Drew Game - Hoedown - Wayne the winner Topic was "Drinking", and Colin's was SO GOOD. Deserved a better audience response than it got. Credits - Brad & Ryan as deep south hog callers. Wayne and Colin joined in as pigs. That's all I could get down. Don't miss this one - it's the best of the American series so far, I'd say. One thing I noticed is that the guys were all laughing a *lot*. And not just polite "heh heh" laughing, but pee-your-pants laughing. Even Ryan, which was nice. Must have been a fun taping.... I think somebody here was at that one, because I remember being told about Ryan's cool black and white runners. I'm only going to be getting one new episode a day early, but I can keep doing this if everyone wants. Saturday, 25-Sep-1999 10:27:36 141.209.159.207 writes: I'm probably too late, but here's my over-critical take on Thursday's show... Weird Newscasters: Ugh... Weird Newscasters again. Wayne's bit seemed to go on a little too long. Nothing really bowled me over in this game, though that's usually the case. Duet: A fairly short song for these two. In addition, there were no writer jokes and no mother jokes, just a couple punctuation jokes. Look, just because Brad and Wayne are in an episode doesn't mean that we have to air a singing game with them. News Flash: It was fun to watch Colin run and later swim in front of the green screen. Brad's "dabait joke: What a groaner! Party Quirks: I think it was funnier to see Ryan slide off standing people's laps than to see him on somebody's actual lap. When Brad and Ryan were left alone, why did the scene keep going for as long as it did? Drew, hit the buzzer! Scenes From a Hat: I've adjusted to the multiple-scenes-per-suggestion thing, and this game, as usual, was very funny. Not as big of a variety of scenes as usual (only four), but funny interpretations. How did I know that one of the performers would use himself as a celebrity endorser? Hoedown: Ryan's hoedown was more surreal than laugh-out-loud funny. Otherwise, a typical Hoedown, which I think they're overdoing for the Drew game. Credits: Well, it was nice to see the full screen, albeit next to the yellow credits bar. I'm glad the credit readings are back, now all they need is a good suggestion for the performers to read as. Overall: Not the best episode, but certainly not the worst. I wonder how long Drew can come up with things that also have points that don't matter.
