Friday, 01-Oct-1999 06:04:42 199.166.6.10 writes: Well, the first thing I said was "Greg is on it! Yesss!" and then I noticed something different. And he changed his glasses!!!!! And I said to myself, talking to myself as Whosers are wont to do :), "well, they look good, but they're just not the same." But they really do loook very good on him. So I guess I can't complain, eh? And I'm quite used to Colin's hair looking like it used to in the old eps. So here's my rundown for those who give a damn about what I think :) : Weird Newscasters: Colin was the anchor, which I thought was great. I liekd Gerg's drunken heckler and Wayne's kid thing was pretty good, too. Ryan's was...interesting. Overall, it was a usual game of newscasters. African Chant: This was dumb. Aside from the occasional giggles derived from the odd background sounds and dancing, this game had absolutely no merit. The song wasn't great, but where can Wayne go with that? Scenes from a Hat: I lost it when Colin said "Miami" instead of Florida. I can only remember Ryan's "pick someone good-looking" thing for any of the other scenes--someone help me out? Change Emotion: Almost exactly like a mesh of two of the British versions of this game. You know, the one where Colin gets axed, and the one where he ends up with the picture and the (?)wine bottle? It wasn't a great game. Greatest Hits: I didn't like these songs too well, but Colin and Ryan did a great job; when transcribing you realize they say the same stuff every time. This time it was a bit different. I always love the long pauses after a little interjection-thing. Hoedown: Ryan and Wayne's were okay, and I thought Drew's was very well done when compared to past hoedowns; erhaps it was one of the best one he's done so far. Colin's was so amazing, I felt like I was wathcing the British version all over again. All I have to say is: Classic Colin. Credits: Weren't bad. Overall, this episode I think is maybe a six or seven. It was pretty disappointing for me since I thought Greg wasn't in it enough. And I loved his reaction to Colin's hoedown. Hilarious. But, yeah, it wasn't a stellar episode. My rant is over. My opinion of the Sept 30 episode...(Spoilers as usual) Friday, 01-Oct-1999 10:27:48 216.94.229.15 writes: Well, the Sep. 30 episode of DL was funny, really it was, but was definitely not as good as the previous two episodes. Many great moments here and there, but on the whole it was a bit weaker, despite the introduction of a new game (African Chant). A rundown of my opinions of the games... 1) Weird Newscasters - a decent attempt, Greg as usual was great as a heckler (he does a great heckler!). Wayne was decent as well, and I enjoyed Ryan's temper tantrum immensely (especially when he threw the chairs and kicked the set...you could see the set shake as he kicked it from behind!) 2) African Chant - a new musical game. Nice to see that everyone was involved. It wasn't that bad, but still I prefer Three Headed Broadway Star. (And it was cute to see Laura Hall do the "elephant" gesture at the end of the game) 3) Scenes From A Hat - quite funny. One qualm: too few scenes, too many examples. Case in point is the "Rejected State Motto" scene. Despite it being very funny (Colin's boo-boo was priceless), I felt it went on far too long. 4) Changing Emotions - Funny, if a bit disturbing (especially at the end with what Colin does to the jungle knife and the canteen) ;-) 5) Greatest Hits - a decent attempt, but not really as good as usual. A repeated topic (Songs of the Exterminator), but a decent selection of unusual styles...his Eartha Kitt was quite impressive, and it was interesting to see him drape himself over the piano as Laura played. Colin and Ryan's banter was better than usual, so it made up for any of the game's shortcomings. 6) The Village People Hoedown - an excellent attempt by everyone. Best verses by Drew and Colin. One of the better hoedowns. Credit reading: Okay, nothing particularly noteworthy. Overall, a decent episode, with some good moments, but weaker than the previous episodes. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
