- Developing from nothing a school computer network comprising 550 workstations and multiple Novell Netware, Windows & Linux servers for 1000 users.
- Planning & implementing periodic upgrades of the school network including coordinating the work of electrical contractors to increase network capacity from 2 Mbps in 1987 to 10Mbps and then to its current level of 100 Mbps with 1000 Mbps being rolled out.
- Integration of Educational & Administrative networks to improve electronic communication throughout the school.
- Managed the temporary removal and restoration of major network services for a term during refurbishment of Computer Centre. Undertaking this task in such a way as to minimise service disruption required significant forward planning, and coordination with the builders and telecommunications contractors.
- Development in 1998 of Intranet access to school administrative data (class lists, timetables etc.) requiring SQL retrieval of data from the Synergetic School Management system & Microsoft Access based timetabling system and development of CGI software to present the retrieved data to the users. This project made data in the administrative database readily accessible to teaching staff for the first time, and required close liaison with the staff responsible for timetabling, reporting and accounts
