Proxy is a short 5 minute video I made in 2000. It is a study of present absences, and absent presences, of distance and proximity, and family photographs.
It's about the way photographs and people can stand in for things.
The video was part of broader academic research into the semiotics of the proxy that I published in the journal Social Semiotics.
