Trailer showing excerpts from Max's first DVD release 'The Tragic Trio' including footage from his latest release 'Ghost Ships of the Coast Run'.
Ghost Ships of the Coast Run recreates the loss of two “sixty miler” colliers, the Woniora and the Birchgrove Park and the passenger cargo steamer Bega. The stories of their loss are brought to life using historical photos and movie footage of the time.
Spectacular underwater footage lets you join the divers as they venture up to 80 metres beneath the sea to film the wrecks as they are today, their artifacts and the surrounding marine life.
Following the highly acclaimed DVD “The Tragic Trio”,
Ghost Ships of the Coast Run is the second documentary in the series on NSW shipwrecks by author, maritime historian and award winning underwater photographer, Max Gleeson.

Runtime: Approx 1 hour.
DVDs: Max's passion for underwater imaging has grown from still photography to include underwater video. Since 2005 Max has used a Sony FX1 High Definition Camera using an Amphibco Phenom Housing to capture stunning underwater footage of the shipwrecks as they exist today. With this setup Max has won the Oztek Underwater Video Award and produced two DVD's on the wrecks off the New South Wales coast. Max continues to film as he dives these wrecks and others throughout Australia and the World. Stay tuned for future releases.

The Tragic Trio recalls the events surrounding a short but disasterous period of Australia’s maritime history. Between December 1918 and May 1919 three colliers foundered within sight of the coastline. The sudden loss of the Undola, Myola and Tuggerah took the lives of 26 men and led to a Royal Commission into the operations of the coal ships running between Sydney, Newcastle and the Illawarra coal fields. Combining stunning underwater footage of the shipwrecks and their associated marine life with archival film and images, maritime historian and underwater photographer Max Gleeson recreates the events of each disaster, examining the individual wreck sites for evidence that may have led to the loss of the “sixty milers”.
Runtime: Approx 1 hour

Fisho's are a great source of info and a bit of research at the State Library can help to narrow down a search area.
