Welcome to Circles Counselling
What is Reiki?
Reiki was founded by Japanese Christen minister Dr Mikao Usui, who studied a variety of healing methods last century.
He was particularly impressed by some Tiebetan teachings which he named Reiki from the Japanese words rei, meaning ‘boundless and universal’, and ki, meaning ‘life force energy’
Usui shared his knowledge with many students and there are now two internationally known Reiki schools. One teaches a technique called the ‘Radiance Technique’ and the other teaches a technique known as ‘traditional Usui system’ of healing.
To learn Reiki a student is attuned to the energy by a Reiki master through a number of initiations and then instructed in the basic hand positions for treatment and the ways in which to use Reiki in their own lives.
The subtle process of using healing energy can be found in many forms.. spiritual healing and chakra balancing are just to broad categories which, incorporate various techniques such as Reiki.
The essential purpose of each technique is to transfer healing energy from one person to another. These healing techniques have been taught for many centuries and people with an innate ability to heal have naturally attracted students.
This Reiki healing energy is available to everyone, we all have the ability to heal and be healed; there are already many individuals who channel healing energy without consciously realising it. These people are the ones we like to be around who naturally makes us feel better, they have a calming influence or a strengthening effect.
That in itself can be very healing

How does the Reiki energy work?
Reiki is the transference of energy transmitted through the laying of hands from a reiki therapist.
The Reiki energy works to enhance and balance the bodies healing ability to restore its wellbeing, leaving you the client feeling relaxed and peaceful.
Reiki feels warm and nurturing as the energy flows in and around the body going to where it is most needed by the body.
Reiki is safe and there are no side effects.
When reiki is used in conjunction with other healing therapies it can have a very profound effect to bring about healing enabling the client.
Reiki is given via the therapist laying their hands on different parts of the clients body usually starting with the head, face, shoulders and slowly working down to the soles of the feet. Then the client turns over and the back is done.
The duration of the session is around 1hour however sometimes it can go longer.
Irrelevant of what you the client present with the energy will go where the body needs it, Reiki energy cannot be directed by the therapist or the client.
Reiki is not a belief system and anyone can receive reiki energy and each client will experience the energy in your own way according to what your body needs.
