After 18 months of planning, demolition work finally began on
6 December 04:
the first step of a five month program of renovations, which will see our home
transformed.
This page charts progress on the renovations (latest pictures
at the top).

May 2005 - Back in business. Still a few things to be done
eg the kitchen splashback.

The first bedroom is now a sitting/sewing room (C) and we have a
fab study in the attic (R).

Late April - painting underway (L); the new deck and seat takes
shape (R)

9 April - new gas fire, floor boards secured and kitchen
cupboards (before poly-spraying).

2 April -

When we told Jos (Dave's boss) that we needed a shed for the
bikes and gardening gear, he said "don't buy one, I'll help you build
one."
Well, one Easter later we have a shed alright, fabricated from the ground up in
Jos's workshop at Mt White then trailer-ed down and erected on-site. It's
dark green now but is still rather large. Maybe the fact that Jos is 2.1m
tall has something to do with it.
27 Feb - Gibrocking underway, while outside the back of the
house/deck is now rendered.

19 Feb - Wow: a roof! Anyone for a bath?

13 Feb - Our new attic room gets insulated. Bricking gets
underway on the new rear section
1 Feb - Just before the concrete pour.

15 Jan '05 - The wine "cellar" (OK let's call it a pit)
and our alfresco toilet (luckily for our neighbour the builders threw up some
walls around it)!

November 04 - Dave rips into the old decking. December - No walls, no roof:
devastation after week one.

The move out and the view from our bedroom at our temporary
digs in the suburb of Clontarf.
"Why are we renovating in Fairlight again?"
