December 2004

Stop press: Since the our big October update we've had so much going on that we simply had to do another pre-Christmas update.  Check out our new pages charting our renovations and recording Nana Stevens' 90th birthday.  We've also been privileged to attend two more fabulous weddings of Katie and Jonah, and Robyn and Saul, with photos to be found on our Events page.

We were very saddened to learn of the passing of our good friend and former neighbour Jenny Gerard on 24 October 2004, seen below in December 2001.  While we were living in Highbury and Dave was travelling a lot Jenny was like a big sister to Flick, looking after her through her final year of study.  Always the life of the party, Jenny was a true friend and will be greatly missed.

October 2004

You may have noticed that this is the first update for about a year.  Sorry, but we've been kinda busy.

Our day jobs have been full on for both of us.  Flick has achieved great sales success at Running Bare and was recently recognised with a promotion to Brand Manager for Wahine bikinis.  Dave has been heavily involved in several major projects as RWG has really taken off this year.  Dave also commenced an MBA (part time) this year; we spent six months investigating a business opportunity (only to find the numbers didn't really stack up); and we've been trying to kick off our renovations (we're onto our second architect and at the time of writing are expecting to sign up a builder this week).

There have been some extra-curricular highlights though, including a swag of new babies amongst our circle of friends: congratulations to Greg & Di (Lara), Gordon & Jacquie (Emma), Toby & Dianne (Cecilia), Andrew & Penny (Ryan), Roger & Karen (Emma).  September saw us attending the first of eight weddings over the next nine months.  Congratulations so far on that front to Kirsten & Bill and JP & Alicia.

We've also managed a spot of travel (ostensibly to attend weddings).  In particular, check out our new trip site which chronicles our frenetic around the world in 20 days jaunt in September.

Other trips included a great visit to New Zealand over Christmas / New Year, during which we went camping with Rose & Ken in Northland and had a larrikin New Years Eve with James and Corinne in Auckland.

Meanwhile Dave finished the Spring/Summer sailing season with a second in the CYC SOPS series, and won his first race at the helm in the Manly Winter series (mainly due to favourable conditions and a good handicap - ed.).

Entertaining-wise, we started the year with the third annual Cecil Street Cinema.  Flick's Easter Sunday lunch (sit down roast for 19 people) was a great success; we had a very impromptu dinner for Dave's birthday at How's (Thai) in Manly, which was also very jolly; and you might say our demolition-themed party in October was just "smashing".  Not to mention a number of smaller dinner parties.

We've also been lucky enough to attend several great bashes and not have to clean up, including Dave's father's 60th (sixties theme of course - unfortunately the film is still in the old camera after we finally upgraded to digital), Grant's 40th (groovy disco themed) and Matt & Tina's glam Piste party (below).

As always, please stay in touch and let us know of your changes address by e-mailing us via the Contacts page.  There are also a few updates to the photo pages including Family, Friends, Events and Scenic Oz.  We've also included the last couple of updates to this page as links from the Photos page.

If we don't manage contact you on a more personal level prior to Christmas we hope yours will be a safe and happy one.

All the best,
Flick & Dave
