Harley Trip
After the distributors' meeting, Ian wanted to go for a Harley ride. I have never ridden one before and put my hand up straight away. Kev also quickly said he'd come. Kev and myself have not ridden for a few years - only 4 for me, but a whopping 30 years for Kev
Hot Harley
We hired the bikes from Morgan and Wacker in Brisbane, they proved to be great to deal with.
Hmmm looks so good
detail of motor, note Paula's reflection in the chrome, all the bikes were well presented
We swapped bikes so there was a chance to try the different types.
The Road King was very different to ride. The Duce had the forward controls so my feet were like a chopper style, way in front. The Road King had running boards and my feet were under me. I have always ridden Jap Sports bikes so, out of habit, I tried to get my feet behind me, it took about an hour to get used to this.
I've come to the conclusion I want to buy a Harley, however, I want a Road King with a new Evolution motor and no heel selector. That would give you the best combination of the Duce and the Road King. I do suspect if I were to ride more Harley's I would find features I like about them as well.
Looks good even from the front
This is the best shot I had of all the bikes together
At St Bernards Hotel on top of Mt Tamborine
Another at St Bernards Hotel on top of Mt Tamborine
Again another at St Bernards Hotel on top of Mt Tamborine
Sadly I did not get many shots of the V Rod - I will have to ask Kev to send me some
The V Rod has a huge rear tyre, however not the biggest - the latest V Rod is bigger again, and it looks like it won't need a side stand as it is about 400 mm wide but looks bigger. A very cool looking bike
This is the shop where we hired the bikes - Morgan and Wacker
Virginia was convinced by Ian it was safe to come for a ride with us, I suspect drugs were involved. VRM looks ok in leather.
A final pose with Ian
The day went very well and we now plan to make a habit of going for a ride each time we get together, hopefully we will plan it a little better for next time
