Vacuum Society of Australia description

The Vacuum Society of Australia is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the science and technology of vacuum, materials, surfaces, interfaces, thin films, and plasmas, and to providing a variety of educational opportunities.

The Society welcomes participation from all its members, and encourages student involvement.

It is the regional body representing IUVSTA THE IUVSTA WWW HOME PAGE: (the International Union of Vacuum Societies).

The VSA publishes the Newsletter "OZVAC" which includes scientific and technical articles , product information from manufacturers as well as a For Sale / Wanted section and other possibilities for those in the field of Vacuum Science to Network and communicate.

Membership is open to all interested parties for A$25 per annum with discounts for Student membership.

The VSA services a similar membership in this region as the American Vacuum Society (AVS)

(AVS) WWW Home Page Link here does in the USA.

IUVSTA The International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique & Applications

The International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (UVSTA) is the union of 29 national vacuum organizations.

Its purpose is to provide a worldwide platform for the promotion, proliferation and education of vacuum science, techniques and applications. Many applications involve vacuum as an environment and concern areas which include: · (applied) surface science · thin films, interfaces · (electronic) materials · metallurgy · nanometre science

The IUVSTA is an interdisciplinary union of which its current member organizations represent more than 15,000 physicists, chemists, material and surface scientists and engineers world wide. The professionals are active in: · basic or applied research · development · manufacturing · sales · education Clearly the IUVSTA’s scope is no longer confined to vacuum science and technology as such, as was the case when it was founded in 1962, but covers a whole range of industrial processes, including microelectronics, window glass and optical coatings, hard coating and food processing. The IUVSTA is a Scientific Associate of the International Council of Scientific Unions and has a category Cliaison with UNESCO. IUVSTA INFORMATION can be obtained from: THE IUVSTA WWW HOME PAGE:
