| PASSOVER IN THE WARSAW GHETTO 1943 |
Why is this night different from other nights? Tonight the ghetto views with bated breath The way the final Jewish remnant fights And purchases its freedom with its death. We celebrate tonight, but not with wine: The bottles which we carry have been filled With gasoline, and it feels fine, so fine, To see the Nazi butchers being killed. We welcome them with barricaded doors, Serve up a special Pesach dish for them: Not bitter herbs, but bullets, German boors! We have been slaves; tonight, though, we are free. Cry therefore: "Next year in Jerusalem!" As for tomorrow, what will be, will be. |
