| IN PRAISE OF AUCKLAND |
Down at the garden's foot, the plum tree (In wintertime a bare and glum tree) Has now exploded With blossom, while on television I see how Nature, in derision, Has gone and loaded Snow onto Christchurch and the highlands Of Aotearoa's * two main islands. I'm glad I live in Auckland, where on the plum tree's bough You'll find the only kind of snow We get, thank heaven. *The Maori name for New Zealand. |
