A Christening ceremony conducted by
Nicole Celeban is designed to announce the safe arrival of your
child. Your family and friends would be invited to meet, greet, and
to express their wishes and hopes for the future, and to officially
welcome your child.
The Christening is a celebration by all of the people involved in
your child’s life. It is an opportunity for you to state in front
of your family and friends the unconditional love and care, support
and encouragement that you will continue to provide as a parent.
Just by holding a Christening (Baptism) ceremony, you are
expressing that your child is a very important member of your
family. If you decide that you want your child Christened, it
doesn’t have to be in church.
Nicole believes that
Sacred ground is everywhere
God is with us and within us
The Bible belongs to everyone
As an ordained minister of an informal progressive Christian
Church, Nicole conducts the Baptism (Christening) in the form
recognised by most of the mainstream religions - by sprinkling water
over the child's head "In the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen."
The service that Nicole conducts is designed for people who are
unable to make the commitments and promises often requested by most
priests or ministers from the mainstream religions.
The Christening or Non-Denominational Baptism Ceremony is
designed for parents, who are themselves Christians, and would like
their child to also become part of ‘the family of God’. They may
wish for their child not to be bound to follow any particular
teaching, but have the freedom to worship according to their own
individual spiritual inclination.
Nicole's aim is to try to take the stress and strain out of your
day, by conducting a personal Christening that is meaningful,
relaxed and friendly.
If you would like to know what people have said about the
ceremonies that Nicole has conducted, please have a look at her Letters
page.
The Christening can be held in the privacy of your own home, a
park, or venue of your choice. View the Venues
page if you would like to find out about some local venues.
