Class Features

All of the following are class features of the swashbuckler.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A swashbuckler is proficient with all simple weapons, the short sword, and the rapier. Swashbucklers are proficient with light armor.

Weapon Finesse: A swashbuckler gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat.

Bonus Feats: At 1st level, a swashbuckler gets a bonus combat-oriented feat in addition to the feat that any 1st-level character gets and the bonus feat granted to a human character. The swashbuckler gains an additional bonus feat at 2nd level, 4th level, and every three swashbuckler levels thereafter (7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, and 19th). These bonus feats must be drawn from the following list of swashbuckler bonus feats. A swashbuckler must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums.

Acrobatic, Agile, Alertness, Animal Affinity, Athletic, Blind-Fight, Combat Expertise, Combat Reflexes, Deflect Arrows, Deft Hands, Dodge, Far Shot, Greater Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Critical, Improved Disarm, Improved Feint, Improved Grapple, Improved Initiative, Improved Precise Shot, Improved Trip, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Unarmed Strike, Investigator, Mobility, Negotiator, Persuasive, Quick Draw, Snatch Arrows, Spring Attack, Stealthy, Stunning Fist, Two-Weapon Defence, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus, Whirlwind Attack.

These bonus feats are in addition to the feat that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. A swashbuckler is not limited to the list of swashbuckler bonus feats when choosing those feats.

Canny Defence (Ex): At 3rd level, a swashbuckler adds her Intelligence bonus (if any) to her Armor Class while wielding a melee weapon. This bonus cannot exceed the swashbuckler's class level. If a swashbuckler is caught flat-footed or otherwise denied her Dexterity bonus, she also loses this bonus. In addition, a swashbuckler gains a +1 bonus to AC at 8th level. This bonus increases by 1 for every five swashbuckler levels thereafter (+2 at 13th, +3 at 18th).

Fast Movement (Ex): At 6th level, a swashbuckler gains a enhancement bonus to her speed of +10 feet. This benefit does not apply when she is wearing medium or heavy armour, or when carrying a medium or heavy load.

Evasion (Ex): At 9th level, a swashbuckler can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the swashbuckler is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless swashbuckler does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Precise Strike (Ex): At 11th level, a swashbuckler gains the ability to strike precisely with a light or one-handed piercing weapon, gaining an extra 1d6 damage added to her normal damage roll.

When making a precise strike, a swashbuckler cannot attack with a weapon in her other hand or use a shield. A swashbuckler's precise strike only works against living creatures with discernible anatomies. Any creature that is immune to critical hits is not vulnerable to a precise strike, and any item or ability that protects a creature from critical hits also protects a creature from a precise strike. At 16th level, the extra damage on a precise strike increases to +2d6.

Improved Evasion (Ex): At 17th level, a swashbuckler's evasion ability improves. She still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, but henceforth she takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless swashbuckler does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.
