Session 9 Ead/Jon/ |
Tricks and Tales |
| Brenna's adventurers travel north through Menarland, meeting three Knights of the Order of the Rose as they travel, eventually crossing the Linn River and entering Murrell. They continue north through Murrell and enter Imperial Vestad. The adventurers meet Lady Brenna and Ganymede at Orviet, where they are staying with Duke Henry Rayner of the 4th Legion. Ulfgar visits priest Dain Arkenstone of the Dwarf community to have the curse of the Portal of Wrath removed. They are all introduced not only to Duke Rayner but also to Duke Melanie Vivos of the 3rd Legion and Derrin Goslaren, a military cartographer who they will escort west to the abandoned city of Tarleikos and back again. Jonyn spends a night at the Church of Martyr Tomas the White to free himself from the weakening touch of Terganius. The jewellery Duke Rayner loaned to Lady Brenna is stolen by someone using her form and wearing a jewelled headband, and Ganymede sends them to investigate discretely. Ulfgar's contacts in the Dwarf community lead them to "Fili the female dwarf", who is actually a human woman using a similar headband to change her form and draw larger crowds to her dance and song performances. "Fili" tells them that she has to tithe to "Randy" Pete Duncan to work in peace, so the adventurers go to him for a lead on freelance thieves using a similar magic item. "Randy" Pete has his people investigate, then gives the adventurers directions to two young men in an inn. The adventurers go to the inn, overpower Rafe Amistar and Theo Sloan and recover the stolen jewellery, though the inn is set on fire in the process. Late Spring 1393 AUC | |

Session 10 Der/Ead |
Base of Operations (modified version of D&D adventure) |
| Brenna's adventurers travel northwest through Vestad with Derrin Goslaren. After a fortnight, they cross "the Shore" and enter Petkenak territory. The adventurers travel west along the Old North Road for a fortnight, investigating abandoned keeps and noting where the Road has been damaged or destroyed, until they arrive at the village of Marikest. The villagers tell them that a goblin warbard lead by a sorcerer named Kurjan has been enslaving villagers to work the abandoned Dwarven mines at nearby Gartan Keep, and that the villagers don't have the military strength to defeat the sorcerer, who also leads a pair of trolls with a large wolf. The adventurers go to Gartan Keep, kill the two trolls, Kurjan, several human zombies and skeletons, plus a third of the goblin warband before securing the Keep. The remainder of the warband flees after firing the Keep, but the adventurers free the Petkenak and Goblin slaves before they burn to death. The wolf talks to the adventurers and bargains successfully for its freedom. Jonyn has to restrain Ulfgar to stop him killing the Goblin slaves "for the Great War". In the mines, the adventurers find Kurjan's sacrificial altar and book of spells, plus a chest of uncut gems that Taliriana identifies as suffused with necromantic magic. This does not stop Ulfgar taking the chest of gems. Early Summer 1393 AUC |
