Akaron Parabkar, the Swift Blade (the Batubatani mercenary)
  Akaron is an adventurer from Sailendra in Batubatan. He was employed by Faruq Jarita to lead the mercenary company that would help Faruq reclaim ancestral manor house from Sohrab Wazir, but was instead controlled by Sohrab's will. Talos freed Akaron from Sohrab's control, and Akaron helped destroy Sohrab. Akaron entered Prince Rahgozar's service following a trial period, during which he travelled with Brenna's adventurers to explore the second temple of Sutekh. He is unmarried.

Amar (the giant)
  Amar is the leader of a clan of stone-skinned giants who live in the mountains of central Vestad. In 1396 AUC, he followed his father's deathbed vision of a strange bluish-purple stone to the tomb of Harseth the Neverlost, where the tunnels were too small for him or his kin to explore. Brenna's adventurers explored Harseth's tomb on Amar's behalf, finding a sample of the stone for Amar. In return, he questioned the stone floor and stone statue to gather clues about the Black-Robed Man for the adventurers.

Agarathar (Arene's husband)
 

Agarathar is Arene Cilarelis' husband. They met and married in 1393 AUC, but Arene was imprisoned in ice by Zilrus the sorcerer. Forced to travel across the Taimyr Sea by Zilrus, Agarathar studied the fighting arts of Khitai. In 1395 AUC, Agarathar returned to Mercania. He guided Brenna's adventurers to Zilrus' ice castle and helped them kill the sorcerer and free Arene. Reunited with his wife, Agarathar and Arene accompanied Brenna's adventurers back to Selentia.

Andolyn Mohan (the employer's friend, the sorcerer)
 

Andolyn is a long-time friend and adventuring companion of Brenna Lucine. She stopped adventuring and settled down near Terevell in 1390 AUC, when she married Gendrew Fliege. Brenna's adventurers rescued her husband from a golem in 1393 AUC. Andolyn is a sorcerer, and provides some of the adventurer's magical equipment.

Arene Cilarelis (the employer's friend)
 

Arene is a long-time friend and adventuring companion of Brenna Lucine. She travelled to Mercania in 1393 AUC, where she met and married Agarathar. Arene was imprisoned in ice by Zilrus the sorcerer when she and Agarathar visited his ice castle. Brenna's adventurers and Agarathar freed her from the ice in late 1395 AUC. Reunited with her husband, Arene and Agarathar accompanied Brenna's adventurers back to Selentia.

Lady Arezi Sarwin (the warden of Ubothar, The Thunder Below)
 

Arezi was possessed by Halfdan in 1395 AUC, and freed from his control by the intervention of Brenna's adventurers in 1398 AUC. She is the last surviving member of the Sarwin Family, and is guarded by Apori (the Guardian of the Skytower) and her servants, Tisa and the Fists of Thunder and Lightning. Lady Arezi holds a patent of nobility from the King of Murrell, and is unmarried.

Lady Brenna Lucine (the employer)
picture of Brenna Lucine - model unknown Brenna is a wealthy noble who adventured throughout her youth before inheriting the family estate from her mother in her early thirties. She is still interested in collecting ancient treasures and discovering new things, so she employs youths to adventure on her behalf. Brenna holds a patent of nobility from King Hugh of Teran, and is unmarried.

Charasta (the ice dragon)
  Charasta is a water dragon from Mercania. She has gone into hiding in Opalar after being exiled by Kirik, Queen of the Ice Dragons, and Kirik's son Darling, better known to Brenna's adventurers as Gungir's son, the Nameless Thing. In winter 1397 AUC, Charasta drove off Brenna's adventurers when they started exploring her lair beneath an abandoned temple to Sutekh, killing Adar. She was later convinced that the adventurers meant her no harm, and allowed Marcus to sketch inscriptions on the walls in her submerged lair. When Marcus returned to her lair in spring 1398 AUC, Charasta had moved on, leaving only a note behind. She may have written Marcus the letter warning him that Yara had been kidnapped by the agents of Halfdan.

Cinder (formerly one of Brenna's adventurers)

Cinder was on retainer to adventure for Lady Brenna from the beginning of 1394 AUC to early spring in 1397 AUC. She is currently trapped with Lord Karvala in his tower, playing The Game of Karvala. Cinder is unmarried.

Dengram Olmaris (head of the village of Essen)
  Dengram was the elected leader of the village of Essen, near the Marsh of Chelimber in northwestern Vestad. Brenna's adventurers visited Essen in 1396 AUC and killed the local bog-monster, Krain the Slayer. Krain returned as a ghost and laid waste to the village of Essen before Brenna's adventurers returned a second time, dispersed the ghost, and scattered Krain's ashes at a crossroads.

Derrin Goslaren (the cartographer)
picture of Derrin - model unknown Derrin is a military cartographer who has competed two tours of duty with the 3rd Legion of Imperial Vestad. He is originally from Dorr in northern Vestad, but was on duty in the capital, Orviet. Accompanied by Brenna's adventurers, Derrin carried out an assessment of the current status of the northwestern road network and fortifications outside the Shore in late 1393 and early 1394 AUC. Derrin married Sabarinah in 1394 AUC and moved to the village of Oseberg. In 1395 AUC, Derrin agreed to take in Yara for the winter and escort her home come the spring. However, Yara's home village had been destroyed by raiders, who took Derrin and Yara prisoner. They, along with Hrothr, ended up in Opalar, where Derrin was a slave in the service of the Sultan's Doctor, Sulafat Rukbat. Brenna's adventurers rescued Derrin and returned him home in 1396 AUC. Taliriana asked Derrin for directions to the Lost City of Nem in 1398 AUC. Derrin and Sabarinah are expecting their first child later that year.

  Elana is the butler at Manderley, and thus responsible for the personal attendants and guards. Tobias is the housekeeper at Manderley, and thus responsible for the cooks and cleaners. They are married to each other.
Lady Frupy and Lord Snorre (the owners of the cloud-castle Skipton Castle)
 

Lady Frupy and Lord Snorre are giants who rule Skipton Castle. In winter 1398 AUC, they accepted Fengil and then Brenna's adventurers into their hall as guests. They are married to each other.

Galswinth (the giant)
  While returning home from Gungir's hall, Galswinth was imprisoned in ice by his ally, Zilrus the sorcerer, because her family would not ally with the self-proclaimed King of All Mercania. Brenna's adventurers freed Galswinth from the ice and allowed her to return home freely. They also spared her brother, Haute, and his wife, Fredegund, when they attacked Gungir's hall.

Geirrod and Suttung (captains of Cinder's Goblin warband)
  Geirrod and Suttung are the leader and deputy leader of a Goblin warbard. While returning south to Krarth from The Great War in 1396 AUC, they were bewitched by Bhishaga Bhana and compelled to serve her until Cinder and the other adventurers restored their freedom. The Goblin warbard has returned to Thurander and the Great War to help locate Lord Anton Garan, and passed on vital information about his whereabouts when contacted by Taliriana in late summer 1397 AUC.

Gendrew was a professional cook until he married Andolyn Mohan in 1390 AUC. They live near Terevell. Brenna's adventurers rescued him from a golem in 1393 AUC.

Gregor and Vasily Kostas ( purveyors of ancient marble)

Gregor and Vasily are goatherders who live at the village of Peliene in northern Emphidor. They trade in marble looted from the ancient cities in the nearby forests, and occasionally act as guides for adventurers who want to explore the ruins of Ancient Emphidor. In 1396 AUC, Brenna's adventurers visited to explore a newly-revealed crypt. Vasily is unmarried, and Gregor is a widower.

Hrothr (the centaur prince)
  Hrothr is a prince of the Sitai Oshkosa, one of the many Khanates in the great steppes west of Selentia. He met Derrin and Yara as prisoners of the Gunguska in 1395 AUC, took them with him when he was rescued, and was imprisoned and sold with them by his enemies among the Sitai Oshkosa. Hrothr pretended to be Hrothi, a horse, among the Gonhalans and in Opalar, where he was the prize possession of Captain Jusuf Hafiz until he was rescued by Brenna's adventurers and returned to his homeland in 1396 AUC. Hrothr is unmarried.

Father Humbert Redgrave (Marcus' father)
picture of Father Redgrave - model Sean Connery Father Redgrave is a priest of the True Faith. Like his son, he is an archaeologist and historian. Father Redgrave was kidnapped by adventurers in 1396 AUC, and sent his diary to Marcus for safe-keeping. Brenna's adventurers eventually found Father Redgrave in a pagan underworld near Ibrahim and helped him return safely to the surface. Father Redgrave visited Merin during winter 1397 AUC, while Brenna's adventurers were in Opalar. In winter 1398 AUC, Brenna's adventurers sought him out in Selentium and brought him to the Lost City of Nem to restore the holy seal on the chamber containing the pagan god Balor. Father Redgrave is widowed.

Ivanior Liadon (the amoral bodyguard)

He was employed by Lady Brenna as a guard in 1392 AUC following the robbery from Brenna's museum, and was on retainer to adventure for her from the beginning of 1393 AUC to the winter of 1398 AUC, when he left her service to join the war against the Goblins of Krarth. In spring 1398 AUC, Jonyn briefly rejoined Brenna's adventurers when they asked him to help them stop Halfdan releasing The Thunder Below. Jonyn is unmarried.

Captain Jusuf Hafiz (the noble paladin)
  Jusuf is the captain of the Sultan of Opalar's personal guard, and a devout follower of the True Faith. In 1396 AUC he gave "Hrothi" to Jonyn in exchange for his cloak with the livery of the Order of the Rose, and helped prevent Sultan Samir's scheme to "inherit" the throne after being reincarnated by the sorceer Malik El-Djinn. In 1397 AUC, he helped arrange for Brenna's adventurers to obtain a licence to explore the tomb of Prince Kholan, then asked them to help Faruq Jarita, a cousin of a friend, reclaim his ancestral home from the undead soldier Sohrad Wazir. Jusuf is married.

Captain Karla Roodsdottir (the pirate captain)
picture of Karla Roodsdottir - model Peta Wilson Karla is a part-Mercanian from Dirkholme and captain of her own ship, which operates throughout the Glaive. Brenna's adventurers bought a number of antiquities from her that she "found" during the winter of 1393 AUC. In 1394 AUC, Karla transported Brenna's adventurers to Dorbenne to sell the cursed mirror and Galadiir, then helped them escape from Glendal in her newly-acquired ship, The Faithful Lady. In 1395 AUC, Karla transported Brenna's adventurers across the Mistral Sea to western Mercania and back again. Late in 1397 AUC, Karla transported Brenna's adventurers to Karlig Island, then returned the gilden thighbone of Saint Isolde of Rhosdann to Teran for them. Karla is unmarried, but has a liking for Eadric.

Lord Karvala (the sorcerer)
  Lord Karvala is an ancient servant of "the Great Gods". He led his family and followers into exile almost 4000 years ago, travelling from the lands that would become Kaikuhuru to an island south of Wyrd in the Mistral Sea. Karvala has been trapped in his tower for thousands of years, unable to leave until the unending night of "the Great Gods" comes to an end. He brought Jonyn and Ulfgar back from the dead in spring 1395 AUC so that he could learn about the True Faith from Jonyn. When Brenna's adventurers visited again in spring 1396 AUC, he restored Cinder, Taliriana, Talos and Tasha to life. Karvala had over one hundred wives, but all have long since died.

Lady Mara Garan (Marcus' distant cousin)
picture of Sir Mara Garan - model unknown Mara is the niece of Lord Anton of Threehills, who left his estate to Marcus as part of his plan to swap bodies with him. She contested Lord Anton's will at the King's court in 1393 AUC, and Marcus withdrew his claim in exchange for an apology. Mara purchased a patent of nobility in 1394 AUC, and was rescued by Brenna's adventurers before she could be killed to restore Lord Anton to life. Mara became Marcus' noble patron for his public lecture on Qemor in 1395 AUC. She was kidnapped a second time by Lord Anton at the lecture, and rescued from Valour Hall by Brenna's adventurers. Mara spent the spring and summer of 1396-1397 AUC and 1397-1398 AUC campaigning in Elmet against Goblin warbands, acquiring a reputation as a grim and fearless knight. She is unmarried.

Migos Fehr (champion of Eia)
  Migos is a flame-haired man from Peronnia. He claims to be the son of Charad, a Lord of Flames, and thus distantly related to Cinder. Migos met Cinder at Ragusa, a town in Kevland, in autumn 1396 AUC. He then invited Cinder to join him, his twin brother Vigor Fehr, his half-sister Lara Fehr, and his relative Rashen Duath in fulfilling the prophecy of the Presage of Forms. However, Cinder's imprisonment at the Tower of Karvala apparently ruined that plan.

Miles Bashere (the soldier)
  Miles is a former captain in the Vestad Rangers, and was once Eadric's commanding officer. In 1394 AUC, he was almost killed by a curse placed on his family by Mad Godric. Fortunately, Brenna's adventurers arrived in time, killing Mad Godric and undoing the curse before the magic killed Miles. In 1395 AUC, Brenna's adventurers visited Miles at the village of Gokstad on the way to and from Kilfay. Miles is unmarried.

Nur Rahayu (the Kattar priestess)
  Nur Rahayu is the high priestess of a temple in the kingdom of Warang, on the peninsula of Minj. In spring 1397 AUC, Brenna's adventurers interceded with the elvish gods Zuhail and Mehran at her request, in exchange for the necromantic magic needed to restore Talos fully to life. Brenna's adventurers also saved Nur Rahayu when Tikiri attacked the temple in his quest for vengeance on her. Nur Rahayu is unmarried.

Oulis Ac-na-Vodin (formerly one of Brenna's adventurers)
  Oulis is a kattar wuxia from Tarna. He met Eadric and Jonyn on a ship voyage from Opalar to Teran in winter 1397 AUC, and went on retainer to adventure for Lady Brenna on arrival in Teran until early spring 1398 AUC, when he left her service. Oulis is unmarried.

Rhiopsis (the snaggle-toothed guide)
  Rhiopsis is a licenced guide to the hill tombs of the high lands between Opalar and Zhenir. In 1397 AUC, he guided Brenna's adventurers to the tomb of Prince Kholan, and then to the nearby Temple of Sutekh, the Destroyer. Rhiopsis is married.

Sultan Natara of Opalar (the queen)
  Natara is the daughter of Samir, the previous Sultan of Opalar. She was protected by Brenna's adventurers in 1396 AUC at the request of Captain Jusuf Hafiz. Natara is unmarried.

Prince Rahgozar of Mien (the Kattar prince)
  Raghozar is a prince of Mien, in the northern part of the peninsula of Minj. While still a young and unmarried prince, he travelled south to Selentia to visit the great kingdoms of Mazarid, Zhenir, Ranimia and Teran, where he met Brenna's adventurers in 1397 AUC. Brenna's adventurers travelled north with him to Opalar as part of his retinue, on loan from Lady Brenna, and spent the winter in his service. Rahgozar is unmarried.

Doctor Sulafat and Tarazed Rukbat (father and daughter)
  Sulafat is the personal physician of the Sultan of Opalar, and Tarazed is his daughter and a skilled physician in her own right. Sulafat was Derrin's owner until his arrest by Captain Jusuf Hafiz in 1396 AUC. Sulafat is widowed, while Tarazed is unmarried.

Tasha (the royal princess)
picture of Tasha - model unknown Tasha is an ancient princess from northwest Vestad. Lord Karvala restored Tasha to life when he resurrected her from a vial of blood in Marcus' magic backpack. It is not known what happened to Tasha's existing body, the undead Royal Sacrifice, when this occurred. Tasha currently resides at Manderley Hall, where Lady Brenna is introducing her to modern court society.

Ulfgar Helmsbane (formerly one of Brenna's adventurers)
  Ulfgar is a former soldier. He fought against the Goblins in the Great War, then came to Brenna with a letter of introduction from Balin Rathaxe, and was been on retainer to adventure for her from the beginning of 1393 AUC to winter 1396 AUC, when he was dismissed from her service. Ulfgar is unmarried.

Yara (formerly a concubine, now Marcus' housekeeper)
picture of Yara - model Sofia Vergara Yara is a Petkenak peasant girl who was transformed into the form of a beautiful and voluptuous Elf by the sorcerer Shivnar in 1394 AUC. She was found at Shivnar's keep by Brenna's adventurers in 1395 AUC, who took her with them through the Elf forest of Kilfay to safety. Yara travelled to Vestad with Brenna's adventurers, and agreed to stay with Derrin Goslaren and his wife at the village of Oseberg. Derrin agreed to escort Yara home come the spring. However, Yara's home village had been destroyed by raiders, who took Yara and Derrin prisoner. They, along with Hrothr, ended up in Opalar, where Yara entered the Sultan's Harem. Yara was excluded from the Harem and handed over to Marcus as his slave in 1396 AUC. She returned to Merin with Brenna's adventurers, and stayed at Marcus' house as his housekeeper. In 1397 AUC, Yara travelled with Brenna's adventurers to Opalar and to Emphidor as Marcus' servant; she travelled with them to Skipton Cloud Castle and to Sarwin Castle in 1398 AUC. Yara is unmarried.
