morning
- The Centenial Celebrations of the independence of Greyhawk from the
Great Kingdom begin. The adventurers meet up at the Green Dragon Inn
and go down the road to the Strip. An eel-eating contest outside the
Griffon's Nest attracts their attention. Jari tries without success
to catch an eel with his bare hands, while Calopee snatches up an eel
and manages to eat and keep down the slippery and foul-tasting creature,
winning the contest. Her prize is free food for life at the Griffon's
Nest, and a sketch of her placed in the common room. Calopee asks if
Jari can be in the sketch as well, but this isn't possible as the sketch
is what allows the staff to identify the winner of the free food contest.
- While the eel-eating contest is underway, Kurt spots Nuvaraath playing
her flute and entertaining passers-by. He waits for her to finish her
song so that he can greet her, but before she does there is a loud scream
a little way along the Strip. The adventurers investigate, finding a
man dead in the street. A quick examination suggests he suffocated to
death, though there's no sign that someone strangled him. The adventurers
question a man kneeling beside the body: the man identifies himself
as Qualim Verest, personal secretary for the dead man, Cariel Mansharn,
one of the Directing Oligarchs of the City.
- Qualim tells the adventurers that Cariel started choking and gasping
for breath, slowly turned blue in the face, and died. When asked about
Cariel's activities that morning, Qualim tells them that Cariel did
have a glass of wine from a new vintage at the Fruit of the Mill that
morning, and complained afterwards that it tasted "a little acidic".
Kurt is keen to investigate further, but most of the others aren't interested
in solving the murder of an important stranger until the City Guard
arrive and ask the adventurers to assist.
- The adventurers go to the Fruit of the Mill and question the proprieter,
Karin Koeffel. Karin explains that the wine was part of a new shipment
from a vintner outside of Greyhawk, and that Cariel shared a glass with
his fellow Directing Oligarch, Carmen Halmaster, before Carmen took
the cask home with him. The adventurers rush to Carmen Halmaster's home,
where Carmen is supervising a group of carters delivering a statue to
his home. Carmen begins to choke and gasp shortly after the adventurers
arrive, and Kessel's alchemical skills let him improvise a remedy to
the poison, saving Carmen's life.
- When Carmen recovers, one of the carters says, "I'm glad you're
well, my lord. For a moment there I thought you'd never get to enjoy
this fine gift from your friend in Safeton." The statue then animates
and lurches towards Carmen, who is protected by the adventurers. After
they destroy the statue, a shocked Carmen tells them that he believes
the two attempts on his life are the work of Turin Deathstalker, the
commander of Safeton and former Directing Oligarch who quit his position
because he objected to the Lord Mayor's policy of negotiating peace
with the Pomarj.
- Edwina the pseudodragon seeks out the adventurers at Carmen Halmaster's
home and asks them to come and meet Jallarzi Sallavarian and Otto at
the latter's home in the Garden Quarter. When they arrive, they find
Otto desperately searching for a spatula he was given by Otiluke and
worrying to Jallarzi that Turin Deathstalker will come to kill him.
Jallarzi is more sanguine about the situation, and explains to the adventurers
that Turin Deathstalker was responsible for the assassination attempts
on Cariel Mansharn and Carmen Halmaster, and that Turin's anger is focussed
at the Directing Oligarchy, which is close to making a peace treaty
with the Pomarj.
- While Jallarzi is talking with the others, Calopee helps Otto look
for Otikule's Spatula. Calopee asks Otto if her spatula would do instead,
and Otto briefly inspects it before giving it back to her and explaining
that the missing spatula was given to him by Otiluke, and has protective
powers specifically prepared by Otiluke for use against Turin Deathstalker.
Calopee announces with glee that she "Otto gave me my spatula!",
and names it Otto's Spatula.
- Jallarzi invites the newest member of the Directing Oligarchy, Silas
Steamgem, into the room and asks the adventurers to protect him from
Turin Deathstalker. Silas insists that he cannot be seen by the public
to be weak or frightened, and initially complains that he doesn't need
additional guards. However, once he's introduced to Britney, Silas is
happy to have her escort him to the opening ceremony of the Centennial
Celebrations, and acquiesces to Britney's friends getting front row
seats for the ceremony. Silas also confirms that he intends to compete
that afternoon at Cairns Hills Combat with the visiting champion of
Gradsul, and Jallarzi suggests the adventurers substitute themselves
for the visiting champion and his seconds so that they can be close
to Silas during the game. They settle on Calopee wearing Britney's hat
of disguise and playing the role of Bonesmasher Brittlesnitch,
male gnome and champion of Gradsul, while Jari and Kessel act as "his"
seconds.
- Before the adventurers leave, Jallarzi makes Otto give the adventurers
Otiluke's spatula, which he has found and concealed up a sleeve of his
robe, and explains what the spatula can do. Calopee takes possession
of Otiluke's Spatula, in return attempting to give Otto her spatula,
now named Otto's Twice-Given Spatula.
late morning
- The adventurers split up to prepare for the opening ceremony of the
Centennial Celebrations and to have lunch. Silas takes Britney shopping
to "buy something pretty" to wear for the opening ceremony.
Kurt meets Tiira for a private lunch, and they agree to be "just
friends".
early afternoon
- The adventurers attend the opening ceremony of the Centennial Celebrations.
Britney sits with Silas at the Directing Oligarchs' table on the stage,
and the others have front row seats in the audience. While waiting for
the Lord Mayor to arrive, a bespectacled man with untamed white hair
takes the stage and dedicates the week to Zagig Yragerne, to loud applause.
When guards arrive to arrest him, the man leaps off the stage into the
adventurers at the front of the crowd. Jari catches him and throws him
to the ground before the man finishes saying, "May the Mad Archmage
bless you!" As the guards arrive to sieze the man, Calopee says,
"My cousin would like his blessing!" and throws Kessel into
the scrum.
- The guards roughly escort Kessel and the man away to a holding wagon.
The man utters a word of recall and disappears, leaving only
Kessel for the guards to interrogate and take their frustrations out
on. After the disturbance has been removed, the Lord Mayor emerges onto
the stage. He gives a brief speech, in which he dedicates the celebrations
to the people of Greyhawk, and leaves quickly. The other adventurers
wait for Silas, who lingers on the stage with some of the other Directing
Oligarchs while the crowd disperses. The guards finish roughing Kessel
up, tell him not to cause any more trouble, and then let him go. Kessel
rejoins the others, and they accompany Silas to the Free City Arena
for the Cairns Hills Combat games.
afternoon
- Before going into his dressing room with Britney to prepare for the
game, Silas reminds the others that he'll let them know when they should
let him win. Calopee goes into the visiting team's dressing room and
emerges as Bonesmasher Brittlesnitch, visiting champion and heel opponent
of the reigning hometown champion. Bonesmasher draws plenty of heat
from the parochial crowd as he enters the arena flanked by his seconds,
Jari and Kessel. Kessel is identified as a local by some of his fellow
students from the Grey Academy, and gets plenty of heat of his own as
an "unpatriotic sell-out". Silas, the "undisputed Cairns
Hills Combat champion of Greyhawk", enters the arena to raucous
cheering and applause.
- The game begins, and Bonesmasher starts by hurling her first beanbag
at Silas' crotch, trying to embarrass Silas and have some fun before
"he" has to stop trying and let Silas win. Everyone is very
surprised when the beanbag explodes in a devastating fireball that incinerates
Silas and his four seconds. The first words heard in the silence after
the explosion are "NUTTY FUDGKINS!" Chaos ensues as the crowd
riots, and guards arrest Bonesmasher, Jari, Kessel (who is recognised
as the troublemaker from the opening ceremony and receives some "special
attention" during the arrest) and Kurt, who leaves the stands during
the arrest. Britney gets some of the ashes from Silas' boots so that
he can be resurrected before she is escorted from the arena
for her own safety. The adventurers hear the announcement that Silas
is "the winner as the result of a disqualification, and still undisputed
Cairns Hills Combat champion of Greyhawk" as they are being escorted
from the Arena.
late afternoon
- The adventurers are taken to a City Watch Station, where they explain
to the magistrate that they are actually undercover guards taken on
by Silas at the prompting of the Circle of Eight and that they intend
to have him resurrected by the Temple of Pelor. The magistrate
agrees to suspend the investigation into Silas' death, but warns them
not to leave the city until the matter is resolved.
- The adventurers travel to the Temple of Pelor, where they deposit
Silas' ashes and make arrangements to pay for his resurrection.
While they wait, a ghostly hand appears that only Kurt can see and beckons
him to follow it. After LeShawn and Kessel identify it as a helping
hand, they do so.
early evening
- The helping hand leads Kurt back to Clerksberg and to the
Savant Tavern, then disappears. Inside the tavern, the barkeep assumes
the adventurers are the people Eritai Kaan-Ipzirel was summoning, and
directs them upstairs. They find Eritai recovering from an assassination
attempt, and she explains that she was attacked in the street and found
she couldn't use her magic spells. Eritai declares that she would have
been killed if Turin Deathstalker hadn't intervened and killed the assassins
sent to kill her. One of the assassins had a note that makes clear other
assassins have been sent to the Temple of Saint Cuthbert to kill other
senior priests. Turin also made it clear to Eritai that he was going
to the Lord Mayor's palace to kill the Lord Mayor, and Eritai doesn't
seem to object to Turin's plan - possibly because the Lord Mayor may
have sent the assassins who tried to kill her.
- During the discussion, the adventurers grow suspicious of the servant,
Kalb. They threaten to make him drink the ale he's delivered to the
room, and Kalb breaks. He admits that he's an agent of Directing Oligarch
Vesparian Lafanel, and was instructed to poison the ale at the tavern
so that it would kill or weaken two other Directing Oligarchs, Glodreddi
Bakkanin and Stimtrin Cannsay. Both men have already left the Savant
Tavern and returned to Glodreddi's house, where assassins wait to finish
the job.
- Faced with three assassinations to foil, the adventurers decide to
split up into three pairs. Britney and Kessel go to save Glodreddi and
Stimtrin; Kurt and LeShawn go to save the priests at the Temple of Saint
Cuthbert; Jari and Calopee (armed with the twin spatulas of Otto and
Otiluke) go to save the Lord Mayor. Britney and Kessel are unsuccessful:
the assassin kills Kessel and almost kills Britney, who is unintentionally
saved from death by LeShawn's magic because she is wearing LeShawn's
insignia of healing. Kurt and LeShawn save the priests, as Kurt distracts
the assassin with his challenges while LeShawn transports them to safety.
The assassin leaves, warning Kurt that "next time, I shall not
be so lenient!"
- Jari and Calopee bludgeon their way past the guards at the entrance
to the Lord Mayor's Palace and force their way into the great hall.
Their arrival causes a panic, as people assume they are assassins themselves.
Turin Deathstalker and his agents make their move as the room thins
out, and one of the agents poisons the Lord Mayor. Otiluke's Spatula
actually works, trapping Turin in Otiluke's unerring sphere
for the half a minute it takes Jari and Calopee to kill the other assassins
and remove the Lord Mayor from the room. Frustrated by the Lord Mayor's
escape, Turin butchers three dozen guards who try and stop him leaving
the Palace, and disappears into the night.
- Kurt mobilises the priests and lay followers at the Temple, including
the many visiting Cuthbertites who have come to see Riggby's corpse,
and leads them towards the Lord Mayor's Palace. They are met at the
High Market by soldiers coming from the Citadel to the Lord Mayor's
Palace, and Kurt averts a brawl by telling the commanding officer that
the Cuthbertites have come "to help - with healing!"
- Jari and Calopee carry the Lord Mayor out of the Palace towards the
Temple of Pelor for healing. En route, the Lord Mayor seems to die while
Jari is carrying him, but the priests check his body and determine that
he is still alive, but in suspended animation and comatose. The priests
try to restore the Lord Mayor to consciousness, but not even a heal
affects whatever Turin Deathstalker has done to him. The other adventurers
make their way to the Temple of Pelor and regroup. Silas has refused
to leave heaven and return to life, so the adventurers have Kessel raised
from the dead instead.
- As the town guard secures the Lord Mayor's Palace and peacefully disperse
the Cuthbertite mob, the adventurers leave the High Quarter. Calopee
and Kessel go to their homes in Burrow Heights while the other four
return to the Green Dragon Inn. Evessa Gale passes them another letter
from Greta Meyani, the "priestess of Iuz", and they send a
short response letting her know that they will come to the Golden Horseshoe
Resting House to "report back on their investigations" the
following evening. They field many questions from the patrons about
the attacks on the Directing Oligarchy. Trolgar Kreet also asks them
what happened when they visited the Pirthan Estate last night, and gets
very defensive when the adventurers complani about the shadows. Jari
surprises the others by agreeing to buy the Pirthan Estate, and does
so straightaway.

morning
- The broadsheets are full of news about the previous day's events,
and it seems that nobody is talking about anything else. The deaths
of four Directing Oligarchs and the comatose Lord Mayor have created
a political crisis: the remaining Directing Oligarchs are one short
of the quorum needed to hold a meeting and appoint a new Lord Mayor,
and only the Lord Mayor can appoint new Directing Oligarchs.
- The adventurers decide to visit the Temple of Boccob and meet the
priest they rescued last week. At the Temple, they are introduced to
Altamaic, who is very grateful that they rescued him. Altamaic gives
each of the adventurers a token that they can redeem at the Temple to
have a spell cast for free. He also tells the adventurers his news about
the general and the hidden elevator, but it's old news to the adventurers.
- The adventurers ask about viewing Riggby's corpse as it lies in state,
and Altamaic guides them through the Temple to the main chamber. The
queue of people waiting to pass Riggby's bier stretches out the front
doors, but Altamaic leads the adventurers directly to Riggby and introduces
them to Rhiann, the priestess who is on duty. Rhiann talks with the
adventurers, and tells them about the vandal who threw a flask of acid
at Riggby's corpse yesterday. The vandal shouted that the Old One's
revenge was at hand, then escaped in the commotion. Rhiann fetches the
remains of the acid flask that was used in the attack, and Calopee finds
the alchemist Hauld's maker's mark on one of the pieces. The adventurers
promise to investigate further, as Hauld's apothecary is acros the street
from the Green Dragon Inn. .
- When asked, Rhiann doesn't know about the obsidian key. However, she
does seem to know something about Castle Greyhawk, and when pressed
tells the adventurers about a wicked half-drow demon named Kalystys
who lives somewhere in Castle Greyhawk and who has been relentlessly
pursuing a vendetta against the Temple of Boccob for centuries. Rhiann
tells the adventurers that she isn't senior enough to promise them a
reward if they deal with Kalystys, but she is sure the senior priests
would be grateful if Kalystys was dealt with permanently.
- A man waiting in the queue to view Riggby's corpse asks Jari who he
is. When Jari replies, the man leads the others in a round of cheers
for the man who saved the Lord Mayor's life the night before. Jari is
pleased and embarrassed by the unexpected accolades. The adventurers
make Calopee put Riggby's signet ring back on his corpse's finger before
they leave the Temple of Boccob.
late morning
- The adventurers return to the River Quarter and visit Hauld's apothecary.
Hauld is happy to assist in their investigation, and has only been using
blue bottles for the past week. His records indicate that he has sold
acid in blue bottles to three customers: Gulfor Leeds at the Lore of
the Lake, the Pomarjer, and a Rhennee man named Vokos who hangs out
at the Low Seas Tavern.
- The adventurers visit the Lore of the Lake. Gulfor Leeds tells them
has has used one of the acid flasks while working on the Jari's dragon
head, and that the empty bottle was collected by the River Quarter Mission
for resale. They continue to the Low Seas Tavern in search of Vokos.
The Tavern is full of Rhennee men and women, though the barkeep isn't
Rhennee. A middle-aged man is sitting on the chair Britney sent for
Amalia, and seems to be holding court over his table. Vokos is sitting
at another table with friends, and pays little attention to the adventurers
when they start asking questions. Instead, the adventurers are summoned
to the table of the man on the chair, who introduces himself as Janos
Mezaros and asks why they are interested in his nephew.
- When the adventurers explain that they want to talk with Vokos about
his involvement in a possible crime, Janos explains that Vokos has two
young wives, and if something were to happen to Vokos they would be
left destitute. Kurt is disgusted when Janoes proposes that the adventurers
should give 2000 gp as a gift so that the wives would be cared for,
and leaves to wait outside the Tavern. After Kurt leaves, the others
accept Janos' proposal. Britney says, "I don't have that kind of
money on me," but Jari adds, "I do. Where else would be safe?"
- Vokos gets up and leaves in a hurry while Jari is getting the gift
out of his backpack. He shoulders his way past Kurt as he makes his
way into the street, then uses magic to turn invisible when the others
emerge and call out to Kurt to get him. The adventurers pursue him (Kurt
with little enthusiasm) through the crowds down Cargo Street to the
River Quarter Mission, where Janos desperately and foolishly uses magic
against the adventurers. Once visible, he is quickly subdued and his
holy symbol of Iuz taken from him. People in the crowd recognise the
holy symbol, and the adventurers have to speak quickly to keep passions
under control and stop the crowd lynching "the Iuzian". During
the tumult, some of the other adventuring group came around the corner
from the Griffon's Nest to see what's causing the commotion.
- The guard arrive, take Vokos into custody, and lead him back to the
River Quarter City Watch Station for questioning. Before they leave,
they ask the adventurers to come to the Station in a few hours for a
briefing on what the guard learn from Vokos. The adventurers arrange
to visit the other adventurers at the Griffon's Nest for dinner tomorrow
evening, then go into the River Quarter Mission and confirm that the
bottle Gulfor Leeds told them about is there.
early afternoon
- The adventurers go to the Mercenaries Guild to check on the Pomarjer.
They find him at the bar, but he refuses to tell them whether or not
he has the flasks of acid. He dares them to make him tell them, and
Kurt takes him up on the challenge. They agree to go outside and fight
for stakes, each man wielding a club and stripped down to his trousers.
If Kurt wins, the Pomarjer shows them the flasks the acid; if the Pomarjer
wins, Kurt gives him 1000 gp. They have a hard, fair fight: the Pomarjer
hits harder than Kurt, but Kurt's holy fury lets him shrug off most
of the Pomarjer's blows. In the end, the Pomarjer can see that he's
beaten, and concedes. He shows the adventurers the blue acid flasks,
and all are present and accounted for.
late afternoon
- The adventurers visit the River Quarter City Watch Station for an
update on Vokos. The guard tell them that Vokos has admitted he is a
member of an Iuzian cell that is based at a shared house in the River
Quarter, and that the others expect to see him that evening. As it would
take several days for the guard to get a warrant to enter the house,
they ask if the adventurers could let themselves in with Vokos' key
and call out to a "passing patrol" if they encounter Iuzians.
Kurt is shocked at the proposal, but the others mollify him by pointing
out Vokos really is a priest of Iuz and there probably really are other
Iuzians at the house. The guard add that it would be easier to get a
warrant quickly if it wasn't a festival week and if the assassinations
of the previous day hadn't sent the city's government into turmoil.
early evening
- The adventurers let themselves into the house, and find several Iuzian
priests within. They call for the guard, but have defeated all three
cultists in the house before the patrol arrives. The adventurers continue
into the basement, where they find a shrine to Iuz and a final priest.
The priest calls on "Sir Bluto Sans Pite" to save him, and
an undead monster rises from the sacrophagus that serves as the altar.
The adventurers easily destroy the monster and defeat the priest.
evening
- After helping the city watch search the house for evidence, the adventurers
return to the Green Dragon Inn for dinner. Following dinner, the adventurers
go to the Pirthan Estate, where Kurt and Jari have several protective
spells cast on them before they go into the cellar and destroy the shadows.
After the battle, the adventurers search the house, finding four corpses
in the four wine barrels in the cellar and a large old blood stain under
a rug in the ground floor study.

morning
- The adventurers travel through the city to the refugee camp outside
the Slum Quarter so that Jari can hire Tenha labourers to do the repairs
and construction work needed to restore the Pirthan Estate to its full
glory. While passing through the Thieves Quarter, the Thieves Quarter,
they detour so that Kurt can ask Gammarstank the Scofulous to ask around
and see what he can find out about the obsidian key.
early afternoon
- After finding appropriate labourers among the Tenha refugees and giving
them the address of the Pirthan Estate, the adventurers go back into
the city and travel the full length of the Processional to the High
Quarter. They visit Lord Henway's menagerie in search of information
about the missing aurumvoraxes. As adventurers, they are directed away
from the People's Gate to the Noble's Gate, where they each pay 1 gp
to enter the menagerie. The adventurers tour the menagerie, which has
many beautiful and impressive creatures, including manticores, a leucrotta,
hell hounds, a griffon, elephants, a displacer beast, sea cats, sea
horses and King the four-headed hydra.
- The displacer beast is named Horace and lives in the pit next to the
vacant aurumvorax pit. When Britney asks Horace if he can teach her
the language of displacer beasts, Horace invites her to join him in
the pit. Before she can do more than set his tentacles and tail lashing
in anticipation, one of the animal handlers reminds the adventurers
to obey the signs and stay on the walkways at all times. The adventurers
ask about the aurumvoraxes, and learn that they belonged to Loris Raknian
before he was declared a wanted criminal, and that Lord Henway bought
them from the City at an auction of Loris' confiscated belongings. They
ask and obtain permission to return once the menagerie is closed and
check the aurumvorax pit for clues, though the staff think it very unlikely
they will find anything new.
late afternoon
- The adventurers linger in the High Quarter until the menagerie closes,
and are let in to take a look at the aurumvorax pit while the staff
are cleaning up and feeding the exhibits. They find no new clues in
the aurumvorax pit, but are able to sneak over to the next pit and talk
with Horace. Unfortunately, he can't tell them much of any use either,
as he couldn't see what exactly happened the night the aurumvoraxes
were taken. Horace continues to encourage Britney to enter his pit,
but she feels there isn't time for a langauge lesson before the staff
return to let them out of the menagerie and has to decline the invitation
for now.
early evening
- The adventurers go to the Foreign Quarter and meet with Greta Meyani
at the Golden Horseshoe Resting House. She only has three more days
before the handsome male elven wizard who hired her is scheduled to
meet with her and receive her report on the adventurers' investigations.
The adventurers tell her to let her employer know that Turrosh Mak's
agents are based at the Pirthan Estate, and plan to ambush him and his
cronies when they come to investigate and/or attack.
- The adventurers return to the Green Dragon Inn to prepare for dinner
at the Griffon's Nest. Gammarstank has left a message with Kurt's pages
to say he has news, so they hustle across the city to the Thieves Quarter
to speak with him. Gammarstank tells them that he has arranged a meeting
for the next day with someone who can help them find the obsidian key,
and promises to have one of his urchins guide them to the rendevous
from his home.
late evening
- The adventurers return to the River Quarter and go to the Griffon's
Nest for a late dinner. When they arrive, a patrol of city watch are
searching the common room for a freelance thief named Fidd Dulamin.
Jari asks to see the artist's sketch of the felon, and reaslises it's
the "messenger from Dyvers" they rescued from General At-Ur
Rehmat's dungeon. The guards tell Jari that the reward is currently
500 gp, but that the bounty is likely to double when the rewards are
reissued on Godsday evening, so he should wait a day or two before hunting
the man down.
- Roscoe Pinebarrel flirts successfully with Calopee, much to Kessel's
irritation, and he complains at length about Quarion Holimion's overly
expressive eyebrows. Kurt admires Nuvaraath's performance on the flute,
and Britney takes to the entertainer's stage to show Nuvaraath up with
her singing and dancing. Kurt spends the evening drinking at a table
with Vedette Tamarin, Nandin Donnchadha, and when they're not performing,
Nuvaraath and Britney. Vedette invites Kurt and his companions to come
and watch her take part in Pelor's Parade the next morning, and he agrees.
By the end of the evening, Kurt is very drunk.
- At the end of the night, Calopee and Kessel return to their homes
in Burrow Heights, while the others return to the Green Dragon Inn.
Jari takes his belongings from his room at the Green Dragon Inn and
moves to the Pirthan Estate.

fine, full moons (Luna and Celene) |
morning
- Britney, Jari, Kurt and LeShawn go to the High Quarter and watch Pelor's
Parade, the start of the celebations for Midsummer's Day. Calopee sleeps
in and Kessel spends the time starting to scribe locate creature
into his blessed book. They meet up with the others later in
the morning.
late morning
- The adventurers go to the Lord Mayor's Palace for their scheduled
10 minute meeting with the Lord Mayor to receive the City's thanks for
capturing General At-Ur Rehmat. They meet with the unofficial Acting
Lord Mayor, Dernane Nathane, who expresses the City's gratitude for
the capture the General and for helping deal with Turin Deathstalker
earlier in the week. When asked, Dernane says he has a plan to solve
Greyhawk's political impasse, but that it's too early to discuss the
details.
early afternoon
- The adventurers go to Gammarstank's house in the Thieves Quarter,
and one of his urchins guides them to a run-down apartment in a musty
old tenement where they meet Tirra. She introduces herself as a member
of the Thieves Guild and tells them that the obsidian key is in Zagig's
sealed study at the top of the Guild of Wizardry's ziggurat, and that
the Guild is willing to help the adventurers obtain it if they will
do a small service at the same time. Tirra continues to explain that
a private collector wants a mundane bronze statue of a monkey to complete
the set, and the statue is in Zagig's sealed study. Because the Thieves
Guild is bound by oaths not to steal from the Guild of Wizardry, they
need to subcontract the work of taking the statue to non-Guild members
(and Calopee, who doesn't realise she's a current member of the Thieves
Guild).
- The adventurers agree to Tirra's request, so she tells them how to
find the instructions on opening the sealed study in a book called the
Ygarerne Accord of 393 which is part of the Special Collections
Library, and how to use the refuge bottle that will allow the
Thieves Guild to smuggle them into and out of the Guild of Wizardry.
Tirra asks the adventurers to return at midday to begin the operation.
- The adventurers leave the apartment and agree to get together for
dinner at the Green Dragon Inn. Kessel returns to his home and finishes
scribing locate creature into his blessed book, while
Jari goes back to the Pirthan Estate for the afternoon.
early evening
- Jari leaves the Pirthan Estate to go and join the others at the Green
Dragon Inn. As he turns to lock the front door, he sees both moons in
the night sky and turns into a dire rat. Jari runs off to do rat things
for the night, while the others wonder where he is. After dinner, they
decide to go and check on him in case he's not well. They find his belongings
in a pile outside his unlocked front door. After checking his boots
and determining that he hasn't been disintegrated, they put his belongings
in a handy haversack and search his house for clues. Finding
none, they lock up the Pirthan Estate and plan to reassemble in the
morning and have Kessel prepare and cast locate creature to
track Jari down.
