Mugamba of Hepmonaland

Mugamba is my tertiary Living Greyhawk character, originally designed for the Greyhawk Ruins core plot arc that's starting in 2007. Because Unlike my other characters, he's not from Perrenland - partially because he was going to take part in a core plot arc set in and around Greyhawk City, and partially because I don't get to play Perrenland scenarions any more now that I'm very involved in the writing and editing of our regional scenarios. I started from the premise that I was going to play "the cleric" in our home group, then worked out a class, feat and skill progression from 1st to around 10th level - clerics are easy like that - and did some web research to choose a god that encouraged an interesting background. The result is Mugamba of Hepmonaland, follower of the sun goddess Nola, travelling far from the jungles of his homeland to oppose evil - particularly those who skulk about at night, the undead and the demons!

I'm planning to make Mugamba's speech very distinctive by using a Jamacian-influenced "Gambit" accent, where I tal' like dis an' dat, only slowing it down so it's more of a drawl. One of the big advantages of an accent is it's always clear when you're speaking in character, so there's less confusion about whether or not your character just said that. I'm also hopeful that using a pattern of speech that's clearly flagged as "in character" may encourage other players to respond with in-character dialogue.
