Curse
Necromancy [Curse]
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close
Target: One creature
Duration: Permanent; see below
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
Minimum Power Points: 7
You place a curse on the subject. A curse lets you impose
nearly any type of negative effect. For example, a curse can do any
of the following things.
- Duplicate any necromancy spell of up to 2 Power points fewer than expended,
such as weaken or blind.
- Duplicate any other spell of up to 4 Power points fewer than expended, such
as infect or confuse.
- Render the subject sterile.
- Render the subject physically frail, as if they had reached the beginning
of the next age category. The subject does not gain the Int, Wis and Cha bonus,
as that reflects increased life experience, not physical condition. The subject's
lifespan does not change.
- Make the subject unlucky so that whenever they attempt to aid a friend or
ally, there is a 25% chance that their attempt causes the ally to fail at
the task.
- Make the subject prone to being blinded by battle fury so that there is
a 25% chance each round of combat that the subject will attack the nearest
creature, no matter who they are.
Special: A creature that has just died, is dying, or is in
imminent danger of dying receives +2 Power points when placing a curse.
The curse must be placed no later than the caster's first action following
their death. If the character does not die or is restored
to life, the curse has no effect.
Heightened: Each additional Power point increases the power
of the duplicated spell and makes it more difficult to remove the affliction.
Each additional 4 Power points increases the power of an effect that isn't a
duplicated spell. For example, 11 Power points can:
- Render the subject sterile and impotent.
- Render the subject physically frail, as if they had reached the beginning
of the age category after the next. The subject does not gain the Int, Wis
and Cha bonus, as that reflects increased life experience, not physical condition.
The subject's lifespan does not change.
- Make the subject unlucky so that whenever they attempt to aid a friend or
ally, there is a 50% chance that their attempt causes the ally to fail at
the task.
- Make the subject prone to being blinded by battle fury so that there is
a 50% chance each round of combat that the subject will attack the nearest
creature, no matter who they are.
