Protect from Spell

Casting Time: 1 standard action

Target: Living creature or object touched
Duration: 10 minutes/Power point
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)

This spell protects the subject from the effects of one spell that is subject
to spell resistance. The caster must choose a spell that they know when protect
from spell is cast and expend sufficient Power points when casting protect
from spell to have cast the chosen spell instead. If the subject is currently
affected by that spell, protect from spell immediately removes it if
it has equal or fewer Power points than the Power points expended by the caster,
and grants a new saving throw with a +4 bonus if it is more powerful. This occurs
even if the chosen spell has a duration of instantaneous.
It also renders the target immune to the chosen spell if it has equal or fewer
Power points for the duration of the spell, and confers a +4 bonus to saving throws
against it if it is more powerful.
This spell can instead counter and dispel a creature or object's power to cast
that spell or use that spell-like ability for the duration of the spell, at the
caster's option. The caster must make a dispel check, as for remove
magic.
When protect from spell is countering a spell that has an XP cost, you
must pay an equivalent XP cost.
Diminished: For 2 Power points less (minimum 0 Power point),
the subject gains only the +4 bonus to saving throws against that spell.
