Chronology of Past Events

The principal dating system used in Selentia is Ab Urbe Condita ("From the Founding of the City"), which measures how much time has passed since the city of Selentium was founded. As well as AUC, Before Present has been used below:1393 AUC is assumed to be the current year for BP calculations, and when there is no date AUC, the event or trend described occurred at approximately at that time BP.

c.1300 BP The Tirynian Circle is established at Kaxos in Peronnia.
c.1100 BP Peak of Emphidian civilisation and influence; decline of the Kaikuhuran Empire.
1053 BP/340 AUC The Nevrokopian War between Lacodoi and the Dytiki League begins.
1014 BP/379 AUC The Nevrokopian War ends in an exhausted stalemate; decline of Emphidor and Peronnia.
992 BP/401 AUC The First Emperor, Heroclites, becomes king of the Kevs and begins to build his empire. At his peak, Heroclites rules over parts of modern Analika, Asmuly, Emphidor, Kevland, Peronnia and Ranimia.
944 BP/449 AUC The Empire of Heroclites disintegrates on the death of his grandson, Megalopis; rise of the Selentine Empire.
c.800 BP The Selentine Empire conquers the Kaikuhuran Empire.
766 BP/627 AUC The Selentine authorities at Ibrahim martyr Gatanades, Saviour of the True Faith.
c.700 BP The True Faith becomes widespread in the Selentine Empire; Siout becomes a capital of the Selentine Empire.
c.600 BP The Selentine Empire conquers modern Teran and reaches the Glaive.
c.550 BP The True Faith become the official religion of the Selentine Empire; Navyn becomes a capital of the Selentine Empire.
502 BP/891 AUC The war between the Empire of Wyrd and the Selentine Empire ends after Angmar the Witch-King is killed at the Battle of Mantil; the Selentine Empire conquers modern Vestad and reaches the Linn River; the Dunns migrate south and establish Old Duneld.
c.450 BP The Selentine Empire conquers the Azure Coast and the majority of the Island of Elles; the differences between the Selentine and Berian True Faith are clearly defined.
414 BP/979 AUC Antoninus Valens, Duke at Orviet in Vestad, declares himself emperor.
413 BP/980 AUC Lecapenus Galericus, Duke at Tamor in Ranimia, declares himself emperor.
c.400 BP The Selentine Empire collapses; rise of Vestad.
c.350 BP Rise of Teran.

225 BP/1168 AUC Alcalagon the Black sacks Olavan, the capital of Thurander, starting the Great War; decline of Thurander.

159 BP/1234 AUC The Mogobai Khanate invades Vestad, but is defeated by the armies of Vestad and Teran; the Kadikai Khanate invades Opalar, overthrowing the Emir and establishing the first Sultanate.
c.150 BP Mercanian raids on the island of Elles stop.
142 BP/1251 AUC The Kevish Civil War begins.
128 BP/1265 AUC The Order of the Rose is established.
99 BP/1294 AUC Former slaves from Mercania establish the kingdom of Dirkholme.
33 BP/1360 AUC The Kevish Civil War ends.
29 BP/1364 AUC Pontiff Honorian II of Selentium calls for the liberation of Ibrahim, birthplace of Gatanades the Saviour, and starts The Crusade.
27 BP/1366 AUC The Crusade liberates Ibrahim.
1393 AUC The first year of the Brenna's Adventurers campaign; the Dunnstone is taken from Old Duneld to Duneld Across the Water, starting a civil war.
1394 AUC The second year of the Brenna's Adventurers campaign; Birland's barons take advantage of the civil war in Duneld to raid the northern half of Duneld Across the Water, looting the capital of Criggen; King Dirk of Dirkholme secludes himself so he can concentrate on spiritual matters, governing through his seneschal.
1395 AUC The third year of the Brenna's Adventurers campaign; the Goblins of Krarth capture the city of Louten and take control of the northern and eastern half of Old Duneld.
1396 AUC The fourth year of the Brenna's Adventurers campaign; Sultan Salim of Opalar dies, and his daughter, Natara, becomes Sultan; the ongoing conspiracy to conceal King Dirk of Dirkholme's death in 1394 AUC is revealed, and his grandniece, Dora, becomes Queen; Zhenir liberates Ibrahim from The Crusade.
