Under construction!
As
audio is one of my creative outlets, I have at least a hundred designs for each
one that I actually build! Here you will find some of my designs that I haven't
built. They are freely available for DIY hobbyists to use for their own projects.
If there are any designs that you are interested in, but lack the means to build,
feel free to contact me. I may be able to assist you to build one of these.
Alternatively I could build it for you - contact me for expressions
of interest.
Some of the projects I intend to post in this section:
Subwoofers:
12"
Peerless XLS driver in a sealed critical Q alignment.
The driver will be down-firing. The enclosure will be curved and include space on the flat rear wall for a plate amp. I personally find this driver to be an ugly brute, but its performance is exceptional and this driver and alignment work together to create a bass suited to many fussy audiophiles who dislike the "generic whump" of many subs.
15"
Adire tempest ELF in an enclosure that is huge without looking huge
I don't like subs with fridge proportions! I'm also a purist in the sense that I don't like a sub that pretends to be a coffee table or chest of drawers! This will be a simple, very rigid slim and tall rectangular enclosure - 400mm x 600mm x 1800mm. Designed to be place in a corner and although it doesn't pretend to be anything other than it is, and it doesn't have that big sub attitude:
"I'm big, I'm bad, I'm ugly and if you want serious bass you have to put up with me!"
This sub is more diplomatic and might even become good friends with your wife.
My ultimate speaker project:
Open
baffle with a curve
This project, or a variation of it is the speaker that I would like to one day build as my ultimate speaker project. I don't have the ability at the moment to do the electronics or to create a version that is sonically refined, but I can design and build a great baffle! At the moment I would be relying on someone else to do the design from an acoustic point of view. It uses Seas Excel 8'" midbass drivers, Stryke Audio AV15 aluminium subwoofer drivers (2 per side) and a tweeter yet to be selected: Morel MDT33, Scan Speak D9500 2905, Seas Milennium.
Terminated
line full range
Full range TangBand driver in a terminated line enclosure - a stretched out sphere shape featuring piano gloss finish. This will sit on top of an 8" bass driver - probably a Vifa, downfiring in an enclosure with curved sides, vented. Not strictly a full range speaker. Bass response F3 @ 30 Hz. This is not a speaker for SPL, but it is designed to get the impressive imaging that can be achieved with a fullrange driver in an enclosure designed to control the cone and deal with standing waves for an uncoloured sound. This is for those who want impressive imaging in a full range driver without giving up deep bass.
