Band News 09/04/2002

Thanks to all for coming to the CD launch. It was an excellent night, Alice Rossiter and Ezmerelda were excellent and the gig was very enjoyable for us. The CD's and T-shirts went very well. There are a few T-shirts left so if you're interested, send us an e-mail (playlunch@optusnet.com.au) and we see that we can arrange delivery.
Recently an article appeared in the Drum Media, which has been added to the "Press" section.
There are also a few new photos in the "Photos" section. The photos were taken at the CD launch and you can probably tell that Cath is not far off from having the baby.

OK, the CD is ready. It's called Facts For Boys and it's good. The cover looks like this:

Send us an email if you can't find it in the shop. It's 20 Oz dollars and you can pay by cheque.

The launch will take place on Saturday 23 March in our local The Harp in Tempe (that's in Sydney). Joining us that night will be Ezmerelda and Alice Rossiter. The night starts around 8.30 PM. For our set we have some guest musicians helping us out: Vince Waller on saxophone and Peter Rossiter on guitar. Cath is showing quite a bulge due to happy circumstance so playing the guitar gets a bit uncomfortable. Another exciting thing: this is the first gig with our newest member Kath Parkhouse on vocals. It looks like it's going to get quite cozy on stage. The more the merrier! Hope to see youse there! There will be T shirts!

PS: I have every intention to do a proper overhaul of the site. Thanks for your patience. I'll put a new mp3 on soon, although the current one Fight Them Allis on the album, so it'll give you an idea.

Band News 16/10/2001

Hello, it's been a while. We're back with a new Australian alternative pop music Playlunch site (Not for your information because you already knew this. It's just so the search engines pick it up). I haven't had time for an overhaul yet, so it may look pretty familiar. Save this site in your favourites because you're not going to remember the URL.

Anyway, what's the band been up to since February? We haven't played live at all! We were too busy renovating, and you'll be happy to know it's starting to come along.
But we have recorded a 8 songs. One of them 'Fight Them All' is a free mp3 on this site. In November we're doing 5 more songs and the whole collection will be released as an album early in the new year.

October however will see some activity on the live-front:
Saturday 27th of October Playlunch will appear in Bleach@Club77, in William Street, Darlinghurst (we're talking about Sydney, just in case). Playlunch are on at 8.45. Pretty early, so don't miss the bus or you'll miss the gig! Other bands on are Ezmeralda and Swell. And an acoustic act to start off the night. The ticket gives access to the knees-up afterwards as well. I believe it's an 80's thing with the Cure and all that. So if you haven't heard FrankIe goes to Hollywood for a while....

The Tuesday before the gig, 23 October, Playlunch will do a few acoustic songs on Bondi FM around7PM. Reception is pretty limited but they're on-line so look up www.bondifm.com.au and you can hear us on your pc.

That's all for now. I'll keep you posted.

Playlunch will be warming up for their European gigs in August, starting the 1st of July in the Harp in Tempe. Playlunch is headlining with 2 other bands on the bill: the Exploding Ovaries and Kubrick. A good night for people who want to fill up on Guinness and the best sounds going in the Sydney basin. It's also an opportunity to see Playlunch with new drummer Carl Davies. The set will consist of material off the "Everybody Leaves" CD and new material that will be recorded by the end of this year. People who have seen or heard the band will notice a change in the style. Pete is mostly handling the bass now, freeing up Cath's vocals and Michael's guitar. The overall feel has become a lot more organic.

Playlunch are going to Europe in August.
Koln will be hosting Popkomm, the huge music industry fair as well as Ring Fest, the open-air festival, similar to the Big Day Out in Sydney.

Playlunch's itinerary for the whole tour:

17 - 19 August Playlunch will be at Popkomm 2000 and the Ring Fest in Koln in Germany.

24 August Return to the Winston Kingdom in Amsterdam.

27 August - 9 September Playlunch will be doing 2 shows a day at the Expo 2000 in Hanover at the Australian stage.
