Matilda is racing toward three now and, although her birthday isn't until August, she wakes up every day expecting it to be THE DAY. She's suffering a little from the terrible twos, although we prefer to think of her as expressing her independence and individuality. She is really beautiful though and such a delight most of the time. We love hearing her sing and she loves to 'read' stories. Her imagination is a constant amazement to us. She loves her little brother Rowdy. They seem to have an understanding they don't share with us. Matilda can make Rowdy giggle even when he's crying!

Rowdy is almost seven months old now and growing so fast. He is sitting on his own with teh occasion slide toward teh carpet. He sleeps almost anywhere and rarely cries. We had some problems breastfeeding and he didn't put on any weight at all for five weeks. Switched to the bottle and he piled on 1kg in two weeks! He's slowed down again now that he's back to average.

After he and I spent almost two months living alone at Michael's mum and dad's house he's a bit of a mummy's boy. Plus Michael is often away and, when he is home, he generally prefers to play with the kid who can ride her bike! The little wooden bike Tom and Bindi gave us on matilda's first birthday has been amazing. matilda's been riding it since early this year and was very quickly balancing, pushing with both feet and steering around people in the street. She goes much faster than I would like but loves the feeling of teh wind in her hair... just like dad! Michael has already selected her next bike - one with peddles and everything - for her third birthday.

Michael's health continues to fluctuate. Fatigue is the main issue and, despite loads of tests, no-one can work out what is causing it.... aside form the sleep apnea which is proving extremely difficult to overcome. His last scan for cancer was clear so onwards and upwards. It doesn't stop him though and today he is riding his bike from Brisbane to Noosa. He is extremely busy in June with speaking gigs - probably our best year yet so we live in hope that the economic crisis is all just a bit of a beat-up.

As for me... I am trying to manage our business, look after the kids and write a book. I spent seven weeks in Milton looking after Michael's mum and dad's house and their five dogs. John (Michael's dad) had an accident at teh end of March and is still in the spinal unit at a hospital in Sydney. He will be an incomplete quadraplegic but we are hopeful he will eventually be able to transfer himself from his wheelchair to the car, the toilet, another chair etc. and maybe even walk short distances. I set up a blog to provide regular updates on his condition. Go to http://members.optusnet.com.au/~rosiem45/

Lots of love Penni, Michael, Matilda and Rowdy xxxx
