ABOUT ME

HI my name is Nicholas Howard. I live in Sydney Australia have been building and flying model rockets for about 2 years. I enjoy making scale models of missiles, sounding rockets and test rockets. Most of my rockets are made out of materials like balsa wood, cardboard tube, plastic and a good helping of epoxy. My smallest rocket is only 6cm tall, the biggest being 2.2 meters tall. I started off like most people buying an esties starter set witch came with a small rocket, launch pad and launch controller. This cost me about AU$40. I then started building more and more rockets, most of which I still have. Although I have lost a few to trees, recovery system failures and CATO's among other things. I now have over 30 rockets, most of which I still fly.

I started flying rockets that use an A-10 engine, now I am flying rockets that can take a 29mm G80 composite rocket motor. The rocket that I am building at the moment is designed to be powered by the mighty H motor. This is the rocket that I will be doing my H certification with, so that I can buy and use H motors.

One of my goals is to build a full-scale model of a Nike Smoke, which will be powered by four L motors in the booster and one M motor in the top part of the rocket. I have a little way to go before I reach this goal but it is something to work towards.

I am a member of the New South Wales Rocketry Association; witch is a rocketry club who are operating in Sydney. The club is a great way to meet other people with the same interested in rockets. It is also a good way to learn more about rockets, even if you have never seen one before. You don't need to be a member to watch some rockets being launched. And if you would like to ask a question everyone is more than happy to answer it.

I will try to keep this page up to date with all the projects I am working on. I am still building this web page so not all the pages are finished yet. Please keep checking back as I will be adding updates all the time.

If you have any questions about model rocketry send me an e-mail and I will try to answer it. I will be adding a rocketry FAQ in the future to help answer your questions.
