This car was built in 1997 by John Wynne and is currently owned and driven by Peter Stone. Originally conceived as a hill climb, Formula Libre car it is car number 76 of 81 built to date by John Wynne. John’s vehicles have included various style racers from open wheelers to clubmans. John Wynne worked for Ford back in the 70’s. He built most of Alan Moffat's race winning V-8 Fords and made significant contributions to the Ford Falcon GTHO Phase 1, 2, 3, and 4 development.
FOR THE FULL STORY ON THE JMW MARQUE CLICK HERE.Today this JMW car is powered by a Suzuki GSX-R 1100 bike engine. In the past it ran a Kawasaki engine with a Toyota supercharger, but proved to be difficult to set up correctly, unreliable and uncompetitive.
The current owner, Peter Stone, has been active in club level motorsport for the last 6 years running
a clubman style car and has only just recently acquired the JMW from its former owner, Vern Hamilton.

Vern, an experienced and successful racing driver during the 60's,70's and 80's, has run the JMW 76
successfully in a number of hillclimbs in QLD of recent years, including Mt Cotton where the
vehicle has run a respectable 43 seconds.
The vehicle incorporates a number of lightweight components, many being motorcycle derived. The total race ready weight of the vehicle is 340kg.
The engine is from a Suzuki GSX-R 1100 of 1988. Capacity is now 1196cc and it produces a healthy 150bhp with a little help from an over bore, some mild cyclinder head modifications, camshaft timing adjustments and a set of 4 x 40mm flat slide carbs. It delivers the power to the wheels through a 5 speed sequential shift transmission and chain driven open differential assembly.
