In the Australian situation, the lives of First Peoples are regularly sacrificed to uphold the pretences of the modern nation-state. Such is the grip that this limited form of imagining have on our minds that we consistently interpret experience in ways which 'normalise' the evidence of First Peoples sacrifice.
It works like this - mental, physical and spiritual suffering is "normal" for First Peoples when it would require a change of non-indigenous state sanctioned perspective to see that suffering as happening to parts of ourselves.
So long as the norms of the modern Anglo-Australian nation-state are preserved, we are encouraged to accept, the suffering of First Peoples is of far lesser importance. Any threat to the imaginary structure of the modern Anglo-Australian nation-state is of far greater importance and must be speedily dealt with. First Peoples' well-being is entirely secondary in this serious business of mind control and manipulation.
There is a mountain of evidence which, to a mind free from the effects of modern state education and media manipulation, compelling points to the conclusion that the unreformed modern Anglo-Australian state is incapable of ever delivering full well-being to First Peoples. This is an key lesson to be learnt from the 20th century.
Locating power in the hands of Ministers in Canberra or State and Territory capitals - in an unreformed one-sided modern Westminster system of governance - will never deliver full well-being to Australia's First Peoples (or everyone else).
There can be little doubt that, under present modern forms of representation, Australian life will continue to move into an increasingly ugly form of Anglo-Australian authoritarianism. Those forms of life are stuck in modern gear and resist changing.
We need to find ways of helping these people stuck in the modern past. And to do so using the higher level strategies of the dolphin rather than reactive shark attack which merely reinforces that we wish to be free from (sings Jewel).
Out of the great crisis this is producing, the opportunity exisits for reconnecting Being and Cosmos so that life can reproduce itself according to an original Australian life-design (marked by complementary opposition and two-sided Ways of Being).
After all the suffering that will lead up to this moment of rebirth, wasting that opportunity would be a tragedy on an epic scale. There is a great amount of work to be done by intellectual craftspeople to fashion bi-culturally balanced representations which look beyond introduced cultural masters and draw their inspiration from the real life of this country.
