JARCAT Cruising Catamaran CC24

  • CORAL COAST TWENTY FOUR "LUCKY"

    Introduction

  • The Cruising designs are prefixed by CC from "CORAL COAST" the term given to the beautiful Queensland coast.
  • Our CC24 is a coastal cruising cat for those not in a great hurry. Those who need SPACE, headroom, a big shower and galley, a full size double berth with good sitting headroom over it. Views ahead and to both sides while still in bed ! Next to the bed there is plenty of room to get dressed. Plenty of room for all your clothes.

All this at a very low cost.

The basic layout shows a full size double berth fwd with plenty of space either side for getting dressed. Plenty of large lockers. The dinette seats four adults. A galley to starboard with about 7' headroom. A shower to port with w.c. Aft below the cockpit or cockpit seats there is room for berths, storage or motor or a combination.

The rudders are transom hung with endplates. The keels are fixed shoal draft. The rig is a small efficient square-topped main on a woodwing with a headsail running on a jib tack track.

John Johngebreur was the first to launch a CC24, immediately sold his house & car and moved aboard with his wife, Catherine. They have cruised North along the Queensland Coast, Scuba diving the reefs and mixing with coastal communities. John did not build strictly to plan, adding a doghouse which proved excellent in the tropics. John also extended the cabin aft in each hull. The final layout having two doubles forward, shower aft and pantry aft to starboard.

A Bukh 10hp saildrive was fitted aft in the stbd hull. This proved a great motor. Quiet and smooth (yet it is a single cylinder). Easy 6.5 knots in heavy trim. With the addition of a second hand simple bermudan rig, John and Catherine have a nice inshore cruiser.

The CC24 has a one tonne payload to bring it down to load water line. This is quite good for boats of this size.

The bridgedeck clearance under the CC24 is 450mm with 600mm aft. A compromise for living in comfort. The raised cockpit area gives a clear view forward.
