CC30s as built by Terry Cook.

This is a beautiful example of the CC30. Two double berths forward. Galley to starboard. Shower & heads to Port. Room for twelve guests to dine at one time.

Terry modified the plan, mainly as regards the windows surrounding the saloon. He opted to larger windows. He feels this better suits the charter business he operates, giving a light bright feel to the saloon (which will seat 12 for meals). He also opted for an aluminum mast instead of the woodwing specified, he points out that he is not a racer and I get the impression that saling performance is not his first priority. Nevertheless he says he has had her up to 11 kn sailing.

The building project was spread over two years. Terry has powered "Riversong" with two Yamaha 9.9 hp four strokes with the "big foot" option. This setup gives Riversong a respectable 8 kn under power. The engines sit alongside the hull under cockpit seats / storage boxes. When it comes time to re-power he intends to change to a 15 hp version of the engines he's using, thereby gaining 50% more power with a small penalty in fuel consumption and no weight penalty.

Terry has had her out in 50 kn gusts under engines alone and reports that the very short and steep chop was no problem for "Riversong". Load carrying is very good. Lastly, "Riversong" was built to survey for charter use, and the watertight compartments are foam filled for positive flotation.

Overall, in Terry's opinion the boat is eminently suited to coastal cruising but that the CC29 with less windage would be a better choice for crossing oceans.
