Well as you can now see from the above Jerry has passed his rest period and sparked up with a new life, the resurrection is complete. For those less in the loop, Jerry suffered non fatal engine failure towards the end of last year and was pronounced bed ridden for the following six months pending a total power upgrade to be completed by September 2003.
Above is a preview of the upgrade, which also saw the fitment of a custom dash sourced from the Japanese Specification Toyota Levin, brake up grade from the same, full electronic upgrade including power windows, mirrors and steering, not to mention climate control air conditioning. The 4AGE 20V Silvertop rated at 120kw now adorns the highly modified engine bay, coupled with a 2.25 inch exhaust through hi-flow catalytic converter is far superior to the previous 4AC 47kw power plant. Add to this mix the previously modified two inch drop in ride height and matched Munroe GT Gas dampeners on each hub holding 17x7 K53 Koya Wheels, a security system, and various other minor modifications - Jerry boasts more uniqueness than the new Mars (Earth) advertising campaign! A slide show of conversion images are available here.
Before the end of this busy year Jerry awaits the installation of a complete sound system with an emphasis on sound quality and clarity. Run by an Alpine source unit, the signal is digitally transmitted through Stringer wiring to the Alpine powerhouse 4x150WRMS amplifier where two channels run straight to each Focal 165W six inch split system with customer mounts in the door and A-pillars. The remaining two channels are bridged to create a 2 ohm load fed directly into the Focal 33A thirteen inch sub woofer in customer enclosure. All custom work will be performed with the extensive use of fibreglass and chrome finished.
Plans for the following year include a total image change: Midnight Black with four to five coats of Silver Pearl will be gracefully met to the bare steel of the body, bumpers and engine bay. Also, the fitment of racing seats with a total re-trim of the interior in black suede and leather, a visual install to include two screens mounted on the visors and run by the Alpine head unit and the Sony Play Station II custom mounted in an enclosure that takes up the back seat and also shall house the bottle that will hold the giggle gas (AKA nitrous oxide) for a shot of another 60 horses at the front wheels.
I look forward to continuing this journey with you guys, and hope to hear from you with comments and suggestions in the near future.
And when I'm done with Jerry, I'll be looking at one of these sweet angels to spend my money on...
