A Tribute To Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan

We are now in the year 2001, we are still rocking to our fabulous Quo but let's all remember how we all came to love Quo. Sadly there's so much divided critism on Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan who for many of us were our boys, STATUS QUO, Francis, Rick, Alan and John. How many fans forget how when all the boys were together giving us the Quo we loved even to this day. I do realize there will be fans who will read this and attack my views but everyone has a right to express their thoughts. I think so often about how people have forgotten if it wasn't for Alan's parents, who in those early days supported the boys and stood by them to help them grow into who they are today. It's always so sad to see and hear such friendships and partnership that were so close disolve into such sadness and bitterness. I have to wonder if it would have been Francis or Rick, would people treat them the same way? It's a very touchy subject, and all I can say is Alan and John deserve such credit and understanding and our loyal support that we all once showed them. The boys have moved onto different projects in their lives but they will always be apart of Status Quo, we can't and shouldn't forget, how can we? Please think about how you would feel if it was you. It's like when a marriage or a relationship dies, you were apart of as one for so long, you form a bond with friends and one day you wake to find that it is broken in two. Sadly the people that once gave you the support and love when you were a unit of one, take sides and turn away. Life is too short to be bitter and even with all the water that has gone under the bridge and also too many burning bridges hopefully with patience and luck the friendship could possibly see the light and shine on again and again. Words spoken on the heat of the moment can scar for life but deep down the bond you once formed cannot be broken, time heals all wounds.
I am still to this day a Status Quo fan, I love them all, Francis, Rick, Andy, Rhino and Jeff and have been lucky to meet them all at one stage in my life, even Matt and Paul. I wish all the boys, Francis, Rick, Rhino, Andy, Jeff, Matt and Paul a very happy new year and also Alan and John. All the very best for the new year ahead and beyond wherever your dreams for the future may take you.

Margi Bartlett, Quo fan since 1974.
