| After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1963 Shann Turnbull became an investment banker active in corporate acquisitions, mergers and adviser to international corporations and governments. He founded a number of enterprises, some of which were listed on Australian Stock Exchanges, and he became chairman of three publicly traded companies. In 1975 he pioneered the study and teaching of corporate governance as a foundation author of the first educational qualification for company directors and wrote his first book. Much of his subsequent activities have been involved in developing and implementing the concepts in Democratising The Wealth of Nations. He is a founding member and a past President of the Australian Employee Ownership Association. He is currently researching how social institutions can become self-governing through involving their stakeholders by adopting a decentralised information and control architecture. |
