violetsWILMA THE WITCH. 40 cm seated (16")
Wilma was designed as a beginners' pattern in that it shows easy examples of many different techniques used in dollmaking.
Trapunto, wired fingers, inserted hair, wefted hair, needlesculpting are all incorporated in this design.

She is a stump doll.

Here is a close-up of her face, showing simple needlesculpting and face-painting techniques.

violetsPADDY THE POOKA. 40cm (16") high

A pooka is a deformed Irish woodlands creature who is capable of transforming himself into other shapes (most often a black stallion) and terrorising the neighbourhood late at night.

Paddy, however, is a friendly little creature who promises to stay just the way you make him.

Paddy has a hunchback (curvature of the spine) and a wrinkled face made by fabric manipulation, rather than needlesculpting.
He is seated.

Here is a closeup photo of his face, showing the fabric manipulation effect.

violetsMADAME. 40 cm seated (16")
Madame, an ageing floozy, was designed for "Magic at the Manor" workshop held by the Doolally Doll Club in Queensland.
She is designed to sit in a "magical invisible bar-stool" (the pattern for which is included).
Her fingers are wired and her face is made using the trapunto technique.
Quick and fun to make and you can pair her up with "Arthur".

Arthur was designed to complement (?compliment) Madame.
It seems that they had been frequenting the same bars for ages, but have only just discovered each other.
He is free standing and has some needlesculpting in his face.
His fingers are wired and his clothing patterns are included.
