Health and Safety

Handling lead.

Working with lead is perfectly safe provided you follow a few common sense rules.

1. Avoide inhailing lead dust. Wear face mask protective breathing gear when working in lead dust rich enviroments.

2. Lead can be absorbed through the skin. Allthough lead can be absorbed through the skin it does take prolonged exposure for this to become a real danger. Wear protective gloves.

Sulfuric Acid.

Sulfuric acid is also safe to work with provided you use common sense.

1. ALLWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN USING SULFURIC ACID.
2. When mixing electrolyte NEVER add water to acid. Allways add acid to the water.
3. When mixing electrolyte add acid slowly. The solution can get very hot and can boil if to much acid is added to quickly.
4. Use boil proof/mirowave safe type plastic containers for mixing electrolyte. If the solution gets to hot durring mixing of the electrolyte non boil proof containers could melt.
5. When mixing electrolyte avoid inhailing the vapor when the solution heats. The vapor may contain sulfuric acid and will destroy your lung tissue and an most anything else it comes into contact with.
6. When mixing electrolyte do it in an open air enviroment (in the backyard). If performed indoors the vapor could carry sulfuric acid around the room.
7. Keep a little sodium bicarbonate handy. Use this to nutrulize any acid spills.
