The Snake - Symbol of Evil
As I believe!
As it is known, the snake and many other animals as well, even fish and
trees had been deified. The reason of this deification originated from the far
back primitive clans/tribes.
They thought very natural at their time,
the spirits of the dead used to enter into some animals, while, as usual,
predators devour some people. So they thought some dead tribal-leaders
who had been eaten by the
predators, lived in the form of those animals. The
animals became totem, which totems were also symbols of
the tribes. Clans often were known by the name of totem,
which was "holy" for them, since they
thought the dead tribal leader (god) "lived" in the
animal, or in tree or fish, and continually
cared about the tribe and
protected. I would rather say, the totems constituted
the first "flags".
For the far back time, the paganism was a natural result of the
circumstantial ignorance, and therefore worshiping false gods, in condition of
ignorance, didn't introduce serious sin. In posterior times things mixed up too
much, when for various other reasons many more animals became totems. It was not
only this problem, while festivals related to those false gods followed by every
kind of orgies, connecting with a lot of sexual distortions, endless
drunkenness, human sacrifices, and crimes that were going further and further,
driving people into total corruption. These attractive orgies of the sick
passions worked as magnets, resulting very difficult process to cut people away
from paganism, including of course the Israelites, although they had the Law, and threaten
by the Prophets.
So the snake was for some tribes a totem, personification of the god
tribal leader; it seems it was original a totem of some hostile tribe, and rather this
was one of the reasons to be considered as evil and hostile. Well, the snake is
also by its nature hostile, while it often bites in unsuspected time, and kills its
victim. In other cases it was considered as prudent, while
often it prefers to go away. However in the case of Eve, the snake appeared
as an evil god, and it is a very clear image of totem
indeed. The evil god
"was" the snake; the evil god "was living" in the snake!
This "god"
original was a hostile tribal leader. Then, after the
"disobedience", the good gods cursed the snake, and from that
moment it moves
by its belly.
Well, I should notice here that by these words, probably
Moses under divine inspiration passes the message of
some evolution, or at least
adaptation of the species. Rather the message
is; the snake, which is also a reference
to the other animals of the field,
(evolute), it was
not moving before by its belly.
So the bad snake became
the symbol of the creeping mind, of
Devil. By knowing better our beloved
and absolute just Creator, and observing the created in the nature, and
through some messages in the book of Revelation, we
comprehend that the whole creation doesn't
represent the Creator. All created were not so good. The nature and
interpositions of the creeping mind exist in
the nature, and everywhere in the whole creation. The instincts of
aggressiveness, rapacity, and general the wilderness exist in the creation, and of
course these things did not come
from God; every wicked, every evil, even the
diseases come from the nature and the interpositions of the
symbolic Reptile.
That is why the Spirit of the Lord says, the snake, as a symbol
also of wicked conditions in the nature
is cursed, the most cursed animal between the
animals of the field. So the curse of the Creator, meaning the dislike of the
Creator is even against the nature, in which the animals live,
while there exists
rapacious instincts and destructiveness that did not come from God, and are against God. By reading
the verses 29 and 30 of the first chapter:
Then
God said, behold I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the
surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall
be food for you. And to every animal of the earth and every bird of the sky and
every thing that moves on the earth, which has life, I have given every green
plant for food.
That
was the simple fact, which purer people understood by themselves, and they are
correct. Always there are people around who understand that eating one another
does not express goodness, and so does not express the Will of the Holy Creator.
And they were confirmed. They
are correct indeed. Against His Will, the eating one another, the
rapacity and so many others that act against the Will of the Creator
prevailed in the creation. But whatever is against His Will will be abolished
and destroyed when the Lord dominates integral.
So, by
these words of the ispired Prophet we comprehend the Spirit of the Lord
saying; God's intention was to be harmony in the
nature, to be vegetarian food for all the creatures, without pain and
suffering, without aggressiveness and rapacity. Similar message comes out also
from the verse 25, chapter 2. Adam and Eve were naked, and not ashamed. And that
means, beside other messages as
well, without the
existence of the Devil, human would be good, free and happy.
That is what
the Spirit of the Good Father says. Lord's intention was for the human to live
free and guileless, not to have any knowledge of evil, meaning not to have
in his nature and soul the elements of the
Devil. This is the knowledge of evil for the
human. God's intention was for the human to be born guileless and
free, to be as long he lives innocent and kind, and pass in the
Kingdom
of
God
without any problem.
So the totem snake prevailed as the symbol of the devil, but could have
been the hyena or some other predator, as it was rather in other tribes. But
obviously, Moses used the tradition of the snake, because the
nature of snake matches exactly the devil. It matches as if it was his well-sewed costume.
First, the Devil is the reptilian mind, he is a reptile, a kind of
spiritual snake
that creeps evilly in the creation. The
literal snake has nice colours, it cannot
walk standing in the light, or at the darkness, and when it bites spills venom.
So the Devil also, "by his nice
colours", attracts to the various "nice" passions.
He does
not walk
evidently, he does not show his sinister face, he is
the Darkness that dragging himself slyly in
the human's lights, (we see for example the atheism, and so the
Darkness, mostly exists in the circle of materialist intelligence), and also
it is creeping in the human darkness that exist everywhere around. He is
creeping slyly into our thoughts, and when he bites, he
spills his venom into our
soul. His intention is to kill the soul, meaning to take it away from God, so he
might get that soul for himself. That is why it is
written in the book of Revelation, he accuses the people, meaning he claims them
and insists they belong to him. He says they belong to him,
because people obey him, while acting according his spirit.
But the Son of God, the Light that was born against the Darkness, came on
earth to smash his head. And by the words, "will smash his head", it means to
smash his kingdom, to smash his authority and power over the human. The Lord
came to beat his evil nature, and He did it. The Devil as he is always trapped
from his own nature to do the evil, he couldn't avoid the ruling of his nature,
while his nature is the evil, so he couldn't avoid his condemnation, and wanted
or not, crucified the Son of God. He had already crucified the Light by his
existence and his interpositions, and so his nature enforced him to crucify even
literally the Light, when the Light came as Human in the earth.
While the Lord
came to the Devil's kingdom by the human flesh, the devil tried by the same
methods to make Him submit first as Adam, (as Human) into the temptations, and
in the power of the flesh. But of course he was not successful. Then he put his
servants to whip Him, spit on Him, make fun of Him, they crucified the
Lord, and spilled on Him all the venom of the reptile. But, you Devil, have you
the right to cause sufferings, and crucify the only Sinless Adam? As Human, He
never pick up any of yours that exist in the creation. So you had no
right to crucify the sinless Light. And why did the Sinless
Adam, He, the Son of the Almighty God, He who ordered the storm and the
sea, why did He accept sufferings, tortures, and a horrible Crucifixion from the
servants of the Devil, who also were His creatures? I will tell you why.
The reptilian mind accuses people saying they choose to do the
wicked, and while choose the evil, they choose the Devil, and therefore belong to
him. The injustice, hate, evil, is abomination for God, so
the Lord set the Law, which means He set up His Will as Law, against the evil nature of the
Devil, and whoever breaks the Law, should be punished. The Devil also demands the
punishment against people who obey him, while it is like a payment to a debt on his behalf, and his unjust
nature demands opportunist justly punishment. So the Sinless Adam who
loved so much the human lifted on His shoulders this punishment in order to pay
human's debt to the Devil. Not to pay something to God, but
pay our debts to the Devil.
From now on, the Devil might accuse the people, saying, these people
did something wrong, and therefore are belonging to him, but these people can
now say, forgive us Lord, the snake was the one that deceived us. And God rather
says; these people are not belonging to you, because for whatever wrong they did,
My Sinless Son paid for. You crucified Him, and you had no right at all to do
so, He never submitted to you, and never picked up those things that belongs to
you. So the scale of justice turns towards to the faithful, who believe the Son
of God, and the Son of God, who is also the Son of Adam (Son of Man), became the
Wood of Life for Adam.
