Status: Common nearer the coast, but not so common in Penrith area
The Little Wattlebird is not found all that often in Penrith unlike it's larger cousin the ubiquitous Red Wattlebird. The Little Wattlebird is black with white flecks and about the size of a Starling, but with a honeyeater's long beak. Usually seen on ornamental garden shrubs and native flowering shrubs.
Size: 26-31 cm
Nesting Ecology: June-Dec in an untidy cup of twigs.
Australian Distribution: Found down the east coast from around Fraser Is., along the south coast and up the west coast to around Geraldton. Also found in Tasmania.
